Don't want to hear about Covid anymore? Then mask up and clean the air and maybe if we all worked together we could put a stop to it. Ok let's step back to reality Covid is here to stay and never going away. We had chances to end it but failed to do so. You still need to mask up.

Germany: As temperatures rise, so does climate skepticism

Some 98% of active climate scientists say climate change is happening, and is man-made. Nonetheless, a new study shows the number of climate-change skeptics in Germany has increased. Why is that?

My take on Covid is you can still catch Covid and I know a lot of people personally with lifelong and debilitating post-Covid conditions. Since it’s airborne I wear a mask outside of the house and run HEPAs. Reducing it to a past-tense issue is fatalist defeatism and desperate escapism

PDX: Time is now to get your air purifiers in working order, purchase those replacement filters, stock up on N95s and figure out a way to seal up any leaks before wildfire smoke rolls into town this week. Free N95s are available through @portlandcleanair.bsky.social and Free Covid Tests PDX

New wildfires that have started up in the pacific northwest will lead to several days of very dangerous air quality generated by the smoke. If you live in this area consider N95 masking and if you are not in an evacuation area please consider staying indoors.

This is ridiculously scary. Yes, we are currently talking about ballrooms and reflecting pools and inflation and Iran and Venezuela and Epstein and crypto grift and the moral rot of the GOP. But all that is going to be forgotten soon. Shit is about to get real, as they say.

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

It pains me to see adaptation used to undermine mitigation, but also to see it painted as a "false solution." Adaptation is harm reduction for climate impacts that can no longer be avoided. Climate justice demands it. AND it has limits, becoming less effective and more costly as warming proceeds.
