We now must fix the law, and the huge backlash you have driven really matters. It will not come into force today, but is set to at a later date to be confirmed. This marks a low point in our country’s history of LGBTQ+ rights, but history is still being made. Trans people aren’t going anywhere.

🧵New report from the @childrenscomm.bsky.social shines a bright light on a broken care pathway for children and young people experiencing gender dysphoria. Most get nothing. Only 15% get referred on to the Gender Service, and only 15% assessed / treated for co-occurring mental health need.

We've had years of 'concerns' about these children plastered all over our media. This is the end point - our society is so 'concerned' about trans children that we've carefully made sure they will spend a third of their childhood on a waiting list to nowhere.

Whilst this is a draft, the government has been advised by many experts leading up to this. I’ve been part of this myself, and choosing to keep loopholes that create room for abuse under the guise of healthcare is the antithesis of what medicine should be Every doctor should be loudly opposing this

Hot Take -The UK LGBT+ sector is weak, ineffective & a large part of the reason why we are in this mess. Self congratulatory, ineffectual & compromised -they welcomed the Cass report & Conversion therapy charter with glee vs total resignation on segregation. Rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

TLDR It is not robust or effective. About as useful as a chocolate teapot.
