Somewhat frustrating to see similar 'controversies' around sex and gender play out in Australia ahead of their census on 11 August as happened with UK censuses in 2021/22... What is it about the design of survey questions that so angers those opposed to the existence of trans people!? 🔢

lol the irony of this will mean that LGBTQ people are overrepresented in the census data (if everyone followed the advice of this org, which they will not)

Boycott creepy census questions
Families should boycott “creepy census questions on sexual identity” as such matters are no business of government, according to FamilyVoice Australia spokesman David d’Lima.

“It beggars believe that the Australian Bureau of Statistics will soon be forcing families to grapple with issues of gender identity,” FamilyVoice Australia spokesman David d'Lima said.

Shocked to learn that the Scottish parliament has set up a filter to allow the public view the trans status of MSPs. You only have to imagine for a moment what it would mean to allow such a filter for other minorities to see why it's totally inappropriate, and dangerous.

The Scottish Parliament's decision to collect and present data based on 'biological sex' has made it harder for researchers to use data to understand and tackle inequalities. 📝 I've written to the Scottish Parliament requesting information on this change: kevinguyan.wordpress.com/wp-content/u...

Congrats to the Scottish Parliament, who by instantly caving to transphobic demands managed to trash their own data. Congrats to transphobes who, yet again, wrecked feminist policy in order to try and give trans people a kicking. www.thenational.scot/news/2627138...

A SCOTTISH Parliament survey has exposed a wider problem with collecting data on the basis of biological sex and could undermine “decades worth”…

The NHS is £billions underfunded. People are dying on trolleys in corridors & because ambulances take too long, maternity services are understaffed & cancer care is a lottery. But Mary-Ann Stephenson of the EHRC wants the NHS to prioritise spending money on excluding & segregating trans people…

Labour MP and former nurse Kevin McKenna has argued that single-sex wards in hospitals are a good example: in practice, you cannot staff a female ward, a male ward and a separate third one for a trans patient. If there is a side room available, he says, clinical need would dictate its use, so the code is "not going to survive contact with reality".
Stephenson counters: "That is a problem because the NHS is overstretched. There is often a shortage of provision. Hospitals can be crowded. There can be problems finding beds for people. That is not a problem specific to our code of practice."

More than 100 MPs have now signed the motion I tabled alongside colleagues to disapprove the Equality Act 2010: Draft Code of Practice for Services, public functions and associations. Please email your MP asking them to sign EDM 240 if they haven’t already.

This motion is currently the only available mechanism by which MPs can reject the EHRC's Code of
Practice; if debated and passed within the 40-day scrutiny window, it would prevent the EHRC from issuing the Code and bringing it into force. This is unfortunately unlikely, but it is important that as many MPs as possible sign the motion.
