Host of The Dig podcast, author of All-American Nativism.

I know I recommend a lot of podcasts/other media, but if you take up any rec, do make it this one. I'm on ep. 6 and, so far, have been blown away – an enormous amount of thoughtful work, drawing from wonderful guests' deep expertise, all guided by Daniel's careful framing and probing questions.

We just completed Nusantara, @thedigradio.bsky.social's 8-part series on the history of Indonesia. The fourth largest country is barely understood in the West and yet has decisively shaped the world: from Dutch colonialism to third world revolution to US-backed mass anti-communist genocide. 1/

At some point, I've been telling myself, I'm going to devote a week or so to listening to this and filling in a giant empty space in my brain about an incredibly huge and important country

This is a great series on Indonesia for anyone teaching modern Southeast Asia or Indonesian History. A group of terrific young Indonesian scholars and great prep and questioning by Denvir. @asianstudies.org @avick.bsky.social @tompepinsky.com @anu-chl.bsky.social

Part of being on "the left" is understanding the history of other countries, especially those in the global South The Dig is not the only game in town, but it certainly is one of the best 🏆

University administrators at TU-Berlin have forced socialist student organizers to cancel a number of sessions for this weekend’s conference under pressure from the fascist AFD. Our panel is still on and so is The Dig social afterwards: come out and show your solidarity with anti-student organizers
