What if.. the reason why we haven't found aliens or they haven't found us, is that any society that invents AI just destroys itself due to stagnation? Jobs being replaced and dwindling populations, civilisations just collapsing...

During the worst of the pandemic I'd make my way home after a shift on COVID ICU listening to songs on a playlist I kept. Just listened to a few songs on this playlist this evening and suddenly felt a surge of emotion wash over me. Resident doctors: don't underestimate how important you are. 🦀🦀🦀

I had the privilege of seeing Adam Kay's This is Going to Hurt show last night when he came to Singapore. Saw him play in the UK when we was part of Amateur Transplants, but back then it was all just funny songs and comedic gags.

Can't believe it's been 5 years since we first went into COVID lockdown in the UK. It was such a crazy time when I look back. I remember ordering a couple of reusable FFP3 respirators online a few weeks prior in case we were going to run out of disposable ones at work.

I was scrolling through another social media platform reading the comments. There were just a bunch of people saying pointless stuff like "Nicely articulated." And "Very informative!" Completely AI generated emptiness. Compute cycles are being wasted such vacuous drivel. Meanwhile the ice melts.

It is no longer safe to go to the USA for any reason at all. I shall not be going there for anything. Not for a conference, not for work, not for a holiday, not to do anything there. It holds no purpose for me to visit.

I've been trying to support some folks who have been "clinical fellows" for years, onto the appropriate SAS contract. Honestly, at what stage did we decide to accept that the nationally negotiated contract for the work done should be optional? This is exploitative as hell.
