I'm outside delivering and I swear to God I just heard something blasting 15 kHz at what felt like 100 decibels. I wanted to shoot myself it was so bad

AI systems threaten data privacy & security even if these systems lack an agentic component but AI agents possess the ability to manipulate a user’s digital systems autonomously & continuously, expanding threats that evade existing regulatory regimes. We wrote about it here: fftf.link/AISnitches

“A fundamental shift is needed in how we approach the development and deployment of AI agents,” argues Meredith Whittaker. “Basic lessons in privacy and digital security are being discarded,” she warns

I guess I've realized it but never acknowledged it: My inherent insecurity in my friendships makes me feel uneasy about them. That fundamentally cascades through other aspects of my life and makes me feel like garbage. So when I do feel good about my friends, I feel way better overall.

If you show up to Bluesky without following anyone, you'll be treated to a series of posts about art, music, and dogs. If you show up to X without following anyone, you'll be bombarded with right-wing conspiracies and white supremacist slop. It's weird which one is seen as a "political bubble"

all my friends should be unemployed and have all the time in the world while also mysteriously having enough money to live comfortably

I be real tired of folks acting like we waiting for the fascist crisis to come. They keep their heads in the future like it's on the horizon to stay paralyzed about how it's right here, right now. We're not waiting for this to be a dictatorship or authoritarianism. You live the disaster now.

It's wild to see someone say "he doesn't force his opinions on others" about a transphobe. Okay, so, just because someone is verbally quiet about their opinion means they aren't intrinsically making decisions that oppress others? Jesus fuck, how do people listen to this guy.

"I will say it right now, that people — parents should get their children vaccinated for measles," Kennedy told CNN's Dana Bash, adding, "A measles vaccine is effective. It stops measles in about 97 percent of the cases. So people should get vaccinated."

I'm not a primary source on the druffle situation, but I can't just sit here and let misinformation scroll by. Here's what I know:

I am mildly considering making a video about the Druffle situation, but I am not sure if it's worth my time. It's a complex topic and I am not sure if the community is mature enough to deal with it, even if I were to try to state the facts and lessons learned from this.

It is still incredibly frustrating that it seems like the VRChat user base on X is still 100x what it is here. I want to stay away, but it's hard to stay updated on things without it. I don't actively use it, but I need it if I want to get more information about certain things that are happening.

It's incredible to look on X and see people outright defend the DRM without knowing anything about how it worked, and especially downplaying any criticism whatsoever because of the death threats. Some even saying that it would have been nice if people provided constructive criticism. 😶

The Creator said that they are going to remove the system. They are working on plans to release the asset normally and get rid of the software. This was discussed in their Discord.

I want to take a moment to clarify something. I don't think we should discourage people from learning software or even using LLMs. It's generally a good thing that people are finally interested in creating software. The problem is that the barrier to entry used to protect against these issues.

I wanted to share my take on it. I did a simple audit of the public part of the software and it raised some concerns. It's less about how the software is written, and more about whether or not it's even worth it in the first place given the trade-offs.

I want to point out that the .exe you download is _not_ open source (github.com/Yeusepe/tran... is not accessible). Also, it contains code for installing itself as a windows service, and has the ability to auto-update itself.

console output showing that the helper.exe contains references to auto-updating software, and that it links to non-open-source code
