People need to be prepared for the period of early recovery during which challenging emotions will arise due to withdrawal. And before your brain chemicals reset so you can experience happiness. This is common but also temporary.
Interesting program helping parents in recovery learn to better interact with their young kids, to teach emotional regulation skills to both, and thus, hopefully to prevent #addiction in the next generation. #recoveryposse #parents healthcity.bmc.org/for-families-i
For Families in Recovery, A New Pilot Program Is Strengthening Connection Through Play

Grateful to be in a profession where it's our duty - and one of our values - to participate in the public/civic sphere.
My LSW exam is almost one-month away. Between Pocket Prep practice questions, mock exams, and flash cards on concepts... I'm making sure I put my best foot forward.
Grateful to do my civic duty and vote. Or really, my duty to myself and others. Proud of the size of this line (not pictured: the 300+ people wrapped around the building)!
You will have peace of mind in the exact proportion to the peace of mind you bring into the lives of other people.
Ultimately, a variety of factors went into why I turned down the position. Importantly: - I'm incredibly passionate about the work I currently do. - I'm beyond happy with my current employer. - More $ -- but moving to a slower moving, bureaucratic system -- wasn't enough to "seal the deal"
Yet another article about how #opioid settlement funds all to often aren't being used to help those struggling with #addiction, but instead are bolstering policing and surveillance budgets. #police www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Police are spending opioid settlement funds on Flock cameras
Historic opioid settlements were supposed to be a lifeline for underserved communities. But much of that money is flowing to law enforcement.

First time experience: Turning down a position (ultimately decided against accepting the offer from the state department of health) -- and then being asked by the hiring manager (director of that department) to hop on a call to provide feedback on the hiring process.
The knowledge of knowing you don't have to be perfect gives you permission to keep trying.
Heaven help me for the way I am; Save me from these evil deeds before I get them done. I know tomorrow brings the consequence at hand, But I keep living' this day like the next will never come.
I've been a bad, bad girl; I've been careless with a delicate man. And it's a sad, sad world When a girl will break a boy because she can. What I need is a good defense 'Cause I'm feeling like a criminal And I need to be redeemed to the one I've sinned against Becaus he's all I ever knew of love.
Another beautiful day for a run! Grateful for the semi decent weather, hah!
So - I decided to move forward with the contingent offer for the position with the Department of Health! Now it's just a matter of verifying my credentials and completing a background check. Once the contingent offer becomes an actual offer, I'll have plenty to mull over.
Been trying ("try" being the key word) to take two "quick 10" practice quizzes for the LSW exam every day, with the goal of maintaining this routine until the day of the exam (in December). So far, so good! I'm very grateful for Pocket Prep--it has proven to be a VERY useful study tool.
Incredibly grateful to have received funding from a local donut county (immediately south of Marion) to expand the NO Limits to Recovery program. Also received $10,000 from a northern donut county to expand upwards!

Today I am grateful to celebrate 11 years--132 months, 4,017 days, and 96,418 hours--in recovery. The life I have today, the person I am, is possible because of a program of recovery (my preferred program). There are many pathways to recovery; recovery is possible-- there is hope.
