The Seattle City Council just voted 6-3 to approve Joy Hollingsworth's amendment to delay universal school lunches for kids, replacing them with vouchers for qualifying low-income parents to buy groceries over school breaks and weekends. Eddie Lin, Alexis Mercedes Rinck, and Rob Saka voted no.

Universal also is judgment free because no one likes to admit they need help or have to prove it. Some parents won't do it for that reason. If everyone gets it, hey it's OK. And there'll always be some that dont need it that dont take it.

The people who commented that most of LA isn’t like this, and that I, an ignorant British / East Coaster, know nothing about the city, are quite right. I will only add that Homer almost certainly knew nothing first hand about Ithaca. It was all hearsay and tropes.

I need people to understand that this administration’s litigating position is (1) federal law currently mandates the detention, without bond, of every noncitizen who is allegedly unlawfully present and (2) constitutionally, they don’t get a day in court. they’re generally losing, but they’re trying.
