Call me crazy. But F1 would be better off having 12 permanent venues on the calendar, with the other 12 venues rotating in and out. The likes of Melbourne, Silverstone and Montreal are permanent, long term deals. The likes of Sepang, Zandvoort and Hockenheim alternate in and out. Keeps it fresh.

I think alongside USA 2005 and Hungary 2021, this might be the dumbest start to an F1 race that I've seen in 27 years of watching F1. 😅 #BahrainGP
Would be quite something if everyone went into the effort to get this race on... only for the rain to cancel the race. #BahrainGP
Currently doing a bit of travelling between jobs. Wednesday morning took me to Stonehenge for the Autumn Equinox. Just stunning. (I don't post much publicly these days, so just dropping in 😊)

The state of this. A 14-year-old story, reheated to look like breaking news and embellished with gory detail, spat out across Reach's national and local news sites and aggregated into AOL feeds. There are still ways of funding journalism. This should not be one of them.

✍️ Want to understand the bonkers nature of the modern economy? Take a ride with me on the 30,000 mile journey the cod in a fish finger takes between being caught off the coast of Scotland and consumed in a British home 🤯 Promise I'm not making this up👇 edconway.substack.com/p/the-30000-...

Have the British public always been so self centred? I’m staggered by how many people I’ve seen saying ‘I don’t use buses so what good is that?’ Or ‘pubs aren’t for me so who cares?’ Millions of people do use each and they are both pretty vital for our economy and society
Seen a few people saying rough sleeping policy isn’t aimed at median public concern. Quite apart from any policy/moral imperative it really is - rough sleeping comes up time again in focus groups as one of the most visible signs of Broken Britain and community decline!
Not a fan of VSC's being thrown without ample explanation on the F1 TV World Feed, sorry. What debris was there to necessitate a marshal going onto the circuit? Feels amateur. And I say this as a Leclerc fan... #BelgianGP

Very busy, but incredibly rewarding weekend, with @racingpride.com at Silverstone!
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is one of the highlights of our year. It's an amazing opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new members of our community, and share the joy of LGBTQ+ visibility at one of the biggest weekends in motorsport #f1 #pride #lgbtq
Silverstone says that 564,000 tickets were sold for the #BritishGP across the four days, a new F1 record. On average, that's 141,000 people *per day*.

Few random F1 thoughts watching the #CanadianGP. 1. Lovely to have F1 cars that look racey rather than big and bulky. 2. The F1 TV feed has not adapted to 2026. The TV feed is trying to do too much and ultimately falling short. 3. This is Antonelli's to lose. Even before Russell's DNF.
I’ve written up a Substack all about how the results from this year’s local elections suggest that the Greens are a bigger threat to Labour’s vote than Reform. We had evidence of this from the polling, and now it’s been reflected in election data. patrickenglish.substack.com/p/local-elec...

F1 has decided to use April Fools Day by announcing a three-race format for F1 Academy in Montreal and Austin. An Opening Race, the Reverse Grid Race and Feature Race. Nothing about the press release indicates that this is an April Fool... 🤔
The thing that baffles me about the Max Verstappen / The Guardian issue is: did no one on either side have the foresight to reach out to the other during the off season to clear the air? The F1 paddock is a small world and I'm just surprised this wasn't smoothed over before Japan.
