Every automation invented before I was 30 is the perfect level of automation: a finely tuned invention designed to achieve the sacred work-life balance. Every automation invented after my 30s is cognitive offloading designed to make us dumber and lazier sub-humans. What is the world coming to!

This summer is a never-ending fight against heatwaves. Therefore, in this lighter issue, I will go over a fantastic Medieval horror book, a great movie adaptation of a beloved sci-fi novel, and the list of my favorite free puzzle games you can find online. www.davideaversa.it/blog/changel...

The ChangeLog – July 2026

This summer is a never-ending fight against heatwaves. The best I can do is accept it and make the best of it. Therefore, in this lighter issue, I will go over a fantastic Medieval horror book, a grea...

Everyone's comparing Nolan's Odyssey to Homer, but I think there's much more richness The ancient Greeks adapted the Odyssey into ART While these images might appear static to us, I want to walk through how an ancient Greek saw art: AS DYNAMIC STORYTELLING like our films 1/13

“googling” things on the “internet” isn’t *real* research, and you shouldn’t support ANYONE who uses technology to work more effectively REAL research requires carrying a medieval torch inside of an ancient dusty library, going tome by tome til you find the esoteric knowledge which you seek

I want to see more @puzzmo.com accounts when I'm on Bluesky! Help me juke my stats, if you've hooked it up and got the label, but don't have a paid account; DM me your profile link over the next week and I'll gift you a year's sub (The link is in the dropdown when you click on your nav avatar)

New atproto app idea I demoed yesterday where you record what you’re grateful for and tag someone. Each orb is a recording, and is used to power a generative synth for a dynamic ambient soundscape. Definitely zoned out to this last night 👽

If there's any organization who'd purposefully burn books so people can't access them it is probably the publishers and the writer's guild. The last time evil tech-bros tried scanning books for public access they freaked the fuck out and forced them to keep them private.

I tried to map these with the female participation in the workforce. The trend is not very clear. Italy is forcing a trend because of its absurd numbers. Because, of course, we are... 🫠 (the employment data comes from Eurostat's APIs)

Scatter plot pairing the holiday lengths with World Bank/ILO female labour force participation (share of women aged 15+ who are in the labour force, 2025) for all 27 EU countries. Italy forces the trend with 14 weeks of vacation and only 40% female workforce. But the trend is not clear as the Baltic countries have long summer vacations (12 weeks) and high female workforce participation.

Fun graph by the EU Commission on the length of summer holidays in the EU. To be frank, as a parent, even the six weeks in Germany feel long. How are parents supposed to bridge 14 weeks of summer holiday?

Graph of the length of summer holidays, ranging from 14 weeks (Italy) to 6 weeks (Denmark, Netherlands, Germany).
