Fed up with a lot of things, and interested in a lot of things, with some overlap. Very few people call me Dave ...

If "journalists" were in the slightest bit interested in imparting news, headlines would read "M1 closed northbound between Jx and Jy due to accident" as opposed to "Major UK motorway CLOSED for hours after horror smash!" ...

New from me: Britain’s graduate earnings premium is falling, cue “too many go to university!” But non-university outcomes are also bad, cue “we must reform vocational routes!” Both miss the point: people used to think education drove economic outcomes, but the economy drives educational outcomes.

Chart showing that US workers who are functionally illiterate earn roughly the same per hour as the average British worker

Without wishing to enter into any premature mathematical calculations involving poultry, it is starting to look increasingly as if Farage's goose is at least greased up, with herbs applied, and in the roasting tin ...

I'm no fan of Reform, but I have to say that I side with them on this one - if you are feeding kids to police, you could at least make a nominal charge for them ... (Headline - Mirror)

Newspaper headline reading: Reform council chief threatens to report cafe owner who fed kids for free to police.

Farage, tetchy and dismissive… “If that’s the worst thing I’ve done in life - not filling in a form - I’d say that’s not too bad.” Oh but it’s v much not the worst thing, is it? You’re a racist crook. You’ve done such damage to our country to please your billionaire funders, you should be in prison.

Farage struts around lecturing us all about supposed establishment stitch-ups and dodgy elites. But look at what's actually behind him: a cabal of convicted fraudsters, mystery millionaires and offshore fixers - while Farage asks for your vote and hides who's pulling the strings.

I strongly believe in giving the man a chance. But keeping Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary suggests the vicious attacks on immigrants and refugees, and self-defeating attempts to outrun the far right, are likely to continue. Which is pretty damn depressing. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Read these words from 100 years ago about immigrants in Britain – and see how history is chillingly repeating itself | George Monbiot

Shabana Mahmood’s new rights clampdown looks outlandish until we remember that this kind of hardline action is part of our country’s fabric, says George Monbiot

Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley

But, but, but....... If you spend money on welfare, How are the elite expected to maintain their salubrious lifestyles? There is more profit to be gained from the misery of war than what there is in the day to day mundane societal issues of the proletariat scum.

It tells you everything you need to know about the state of British society when the Anne Frank Trust has to step in because of the dehumanising attacks on the LGBT community. What a disgrace we’ve become

Why on earth does Farage think that wearing suits that make him look like cabin crew is a good look? Nothing wrong with it if you are cabin crew, of course - before anyone provides feedback! I doubt Farage could cope with actually having to work for a living ...😉

Excitement mounts as I reach 990 people currently comfortable enough to add me to their follower list. I very much doubt I will be able to come up with an appropriate reward to whoever becomes the 1000th in the near future, but you will be appreciated anyway (non-bots only!) 😉🥳

I don't have anything profound to say about the 10-year anniversary of the Brexit vote. Brexit was always going to be shit, was shit, and now continues to be shit. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

My Brexit 10 years on take. The more responsible parts of the media struggled to get useful information to voters, because hypotheticals can't be proved and plausible outcomes had to be modelled. The less responsible parts simply campaiged for Brexit.
