Divvy just hit its first ever 1 million ride month! 🚲 Today, Chicago reached this incredible milestone. It's the result of expanding our bikeway network, making Divvy more affordable through operating subsidies & investing in safer, better biking across the city. Here's to the next million!

it's not the whole issue, but a large part of why pace and CTA have such horrible and decaying bus fleets is because their net zero mandates mean they can't really buy new diesel buses, but sourcing zero emissions buses is incredibly hard at the moment - to say nothing of converting garages

All over the transit industry, zero-emission bus mandates, like those of California, are colliding with Buy America requirements that deny US transit agencies access to a competitive bus market. The result is a wave of lousy buses that are impacting service. 1/ nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/07/27/b...

The tunnel allowing South Side airport workers to have more seamless trips to O'Hare via direct transfers at CUS would be huge, but adding a regional rail operation just between O'Hare and Union Station on the existing MD-W/NCS would be transformational on its own. open.substack.com/pub/starline...

An O'Hare Regional Rail sketch, showing transformative impacts of a higher-frequency local operation between Chicago Union Station and O'Hare Transfer, with additional connectivity points to other modes.

this is initial analysis, but after #BuildTheTunnel, the CrossTowner network would improve transit travel times for O'Hare workers: - about 11% would have up to 10% faster commutes - about 9% would have between 10% and 20% faster commutes

The most effective way to stop companies like Amazon & Fed Ex from blocking bike lanes is to build protected bike lanes. When bikes are physically separated from traffic, illegal parking becomes much harder & cyclists are safer because of it. www.chicagotribune.com/2026/07/19/b...

Chicago bike lane ticketing program records big fines against delivery companies

A bike lane ticketing program meant to make busy downtown streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians has found package delivery giants among its most consistent scofflaws.

CDOT just made a safety upgrade at one of the busiest entrances to the Lakefront Trail at Sheridan & Ardmore 🚲 Fresh striping + delineator posts = a safer, clearer bike lane during the busiest time of year.

Freshly striped green bike lane at the entrance to the Lakefront Trail with new flexible delineator posts separating the bike lane from vehicle traffic. The same intersection before improvements, with parked car blocking the bike lane, forcing cyclists into traffic.

Just spitballing here but under NITA, one of the transit agencies could eminent domain this parking lot and build housing with zero parking spaces to (1) eliminate the curb cuts, (2) raise revenues, and (3) boost bus ridership.

Beautiful Women Updates@aoife.bsky.social · 3w ago

like why does a single 150' parking lot that hasn't been used in 2 decades have 2 curb cuts across a brand new protected bike lane when the lot literally has a third curb cut onto a street with no bus traffic and no bike lane

New Divvy charging station just went in outside the Obama Presidential Center. Hyde Park’s Divvy network keeps growing, and it’s part of the push toward docked charging stations that keeps bike batteries topped off while reducing the need for roaming battery swaps.

Since I'm no longer working on Divvy, give Joe a follow for Divvy updates! Joe works for Lyft, he's a MUPP, bikes every day & knows the system in and out. Also great to see the new Obama Center station open, the latest of Lyft's ~$125,000,000 investment in Chicago 🚲

Stepping into a new role at CDOT overseeing Complete Streets & Public Way Policy. Our team is updating maps to better visualize safety issues. We're building new layers that combine Divvy ridership, bike crash data per mile, and more to better understand patterns across the bikeway network.

Letters: Chicago needs a connected network of protected bike lanes for the good of the city

Chicago’s streets are public space, and the right to move through that public space should not depend on owning a car.
