based on latest satellite detections, I’m showing roughy 70 miles of *active* fire perimeter on the Big Grass Fire #IdahoFire That’s 70 miles in one of the most remote and inhospitable highlands and canyon-lands in the country. We simply do not have resources to stop this fire

I am on the downswing of one of the most intensely stressful work seasons of my whole entire life, so if any of my friends are reading this, thank you for dealing with my prolonged periods of stress/radio silence/whatever this has been. Hopefully in August I will be slightly normal again.

For four hours, hundreds of people were detained — without food, or consistent access to water, bathrooms or medical treatment, including a man who was bleeding from his head after an officer allegedly struck him with a rifle, the lawsuit claims.

If an editor in chief turns down multiple opportunities to review a piece, and then pulls it at the last minute after their newsroom has promoted it, she's a bad manager. That's not failing to avoid drama in her own newsroom, as Sally's piece puts it. It's awful for the entire institution.

I talked to Cody Funke yesterday to make sure he understood our story would say he made mistakes. He reacted by chuckling and saying, yeah, figured as much but it needs to be told. Funke was super cooperative as we reported this story. He doesn't want to see this happen with another new coroner.

This story by @audreydutton.bsky.social is incredible for many reasons, including that it contains someone willing to admit they were wrong: "Funke said the story of Betty Strong’s death needs to be told, even if it shows that he and Idaho County made mistakes" www.propublica.org/article/idah...

Pals! I've received several kind messages over the last 24 hours about the rescission package. Thank you. As far as what this means for IdahoPTV specifically, we're in a wait-and-see situation. I'm going to keep trucking. I have lots of work to do for this 4th grade Idaho history series. (1/2)

Idaho Reports is on hiatus for the summer. The team is working on other IdahoPTV projects, including productions for Outdoor Idaho, Idaho Experience, and America250. Stay tuned for more info! In related news, I met this very nice cat on a shoot this morning. I also saw a hummingbird.
