One week from today, I start my new job - full time and salaried! Working 4 days a week, working with an organization that supports homeschooling and deschooling Black and brown families with SEL and self guided learning! I’m so excited to be back in the field. Here’s a description of my class:

Offering Description (3-4 sentences): An open art lab focused on learning creative skills through small group learning, independent practice routines, and self-selected resources. Youth will have a chance to learn about different artists, prioritizing the work of Black, Indigenous, queer, and neurodivergent artists, and work with an array of materials and art-making practices including; collaging, painting, printmaking, and more, to help build their artist toolkit. Youth voice is a central component of this offering, such as sharing art, leading group activities, and making decisions about areas of focus. Inclusion, Accessibility & Relevance: This offering will be inclusive by encouraging multiple ways to participate/socialize, recognizing the different ways that Black and Indigenous, neurospicy, and queer folks may communicate differently, offering meaningful choices and collaboration amongst youth and facilitators, flexible schedule and pacing, and an environment where youth are partners in the learning process. Wow. Just fucking wow... A new way to intimidate and try to silence the parents of a Black child found dead in suspicious circumstances. It appears there must be more to the story if anonymous complaints are being used to silence a nurse-practitioner trying to find out what happened to her child.
