Finished this. It was pretty wild at times, but I think it would have been a better book if all the fantastical elements had been removed entirely. Anyway, probably my second-favorite Murakami so far. It has nothing on Norwegian Wood, though.

OK so. I saw The Odyssey. This was a monumental film. Everything the racists, transphobes & handwringing (alleged) classics purists have been bitching about in their hate campaign? Meaningless. The movie feels natural, the language works, the cast works, & all those people are dumb shitheads… 🧵

Finished this. It didn’t end up getting as crazy as I thought it would, but that’s OK because it was a very well-told story. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as good as The Nix, which is one of the best things I’ve read in recent years, but I’d definitely recommend it.

Finished this. There were flashes of brilliance here and there, and it was an enjoyable reading experience overall, but it’s very embryonic compared to Infinite Jest. Still, I liked it. Ridiculous book. Dense with theory about language and connection. Pynchonian as fuck.
Finished this. One of only a handful of 5-star books I’ve read in the last few years. Jesus, where does one even go after something like this?

If I were an action hero, this is what I’d say to the bad guy before the kill shot.
You’d think I’d have learned my lesson about staring at my phone while I pee after dropping 3 phones in like 16 toilets in the last 5 years but I definitely haven’t. I’m on a hell of a no-dropping streak, though. Would be a shame to not see it through. 🤞
OK maybe I’ll just take a walk up my own ass then.

There’s an extended fight sequence in this that is one of the most uproariously, insanely, beautifully written things I’ve ever read in my fucking life.
