We are smart enough to solve climate change but stupid enough not to. Then complain when displaced people move to our country. Old enough to remember when politicians had morals and journalists held them accountable.
Not one single person in tech ever thought this would work. They didn't listen because it was all about the messaging in media rather than the results. #PerformativePolitics
Australia’s eSafety commissioner buried a report (released Friday afternoon) that shows the under 16 social media ban didn’t tangibly reduce teen social media use, and also resulted in parents tuning out of kids usage. We traded our privacy for no reason. theconversation.com/more-than-80...
#LongCovid is not a ‘subject’ to dispute. It’s a health condition that changes people’s lives. Definitions can evolve & that’s not an excuse to dismiss the illness itself. Diagnostic criteria for diabetes have repeatedly changed over time but no one takes u seriously if you say diabetes in disputed!
Long covid is a disputed subject, at best.
Behind the bewildering transformation of British universities, are management consultants being paid millions Really proud to have this vital piece on our unis are being gutted from the inside by @jheathershaw.bsky.social on Democracy for Sale. Do read democracyforsale.substack.com/p/inside-bri...
Inside Britain's university crisis
As teaching staff face job loss, their bosses have netted pay rises and bought advice from a “vampiric” management consultancy, writes Prof. John Heathershaw of the University of Exeter

We should never allow tax breaks like negative gearing on houses that are not residences - either home owners or long term renting.
Yes we need more housing supply, but it's only half the problem. At the last census, a million homes were empty. There are enough dwellings for everyone now - but distribution is skewed to #AirBnB. We could fix #homelessness. Our property-lobby-driven govts choose not to. #inequality #auspol
I would like to propose a members bill banning male politicians telling us to have babies.

"A push to recognise claims of genocide in Gaza failed to gain enough support for a debate on the floor of Labor's national conference..." Or more accurately: 'a push to recognize the evidence of Israel's genocide in Gaza...' Unlike his Labor colleagues, Ed Husic still has a moral compass. #auspol
Ed is not impressed... www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07...
Some of us listen. I watched his opening speech at the ALP conference, a word salad of all the problems facing Australians. I spent over 5 minutes saying these 2 things to the TV: "Yes, so what are you doing about it?" and "Great! Now what".
Watch carefully, sound down. Then you’ll get it Labor’s discovered people’ve realised they don’t listen, so now they think flash bombing words across a screen with the PM talking minor policy tweaks with a few key words - will fix it Are we all sucked in, is it all true? Are we idiots #auspol?
nobody should use twitter (you don’t have to use bluesky! just not twitter!) but very specifically journalists and entertainment reporters using it has been astoundingly corrosive for our civil dialogue, because we have completely lost any semblance of “saying this is unacceptable”
It would help a lot if a lot of journalists and pundits weren't using Twitter as their assignment editor, several years into its transition into Stormfront.
Israel is bombing Gaza as the U.S. is bombing Iran. The news media talks about oil prices while the region is on fire because of a genocidal, apartheid state. These are human beings whose lives are being destroyed, when is it enough?
To utter the word “genocide" means that governments must act. And our government has chosen not to act on the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and now on the West Bank, John Menadue writes. #genocide #Israel #Gaza #ALPconference
Genocide, the word Albanese and Wong will never utter
By refusing to name genocide in Gaza, the Labor government avoids the legal and moral obligations that would follow – but not the shame of complicity.

Israel is expelling surviving Palestinians from Gaza and the world remains silent Israel already controls nearly 70% of Gaza's territory. They are systematically displacing the Palestinian population that still survives among the ruins. The major media barely mention it
Too right. No tech companies worth their salt have unpaid internships.
What’s surprising is students are required to do up to six months worth of training placements, subsidising the care industry with unpaid labour
Ed Husic at Labor conference says he’s raising concerns about having our Defence in Israel despite the “genocide” in Gaza, military parts sent there, illegal settlements, Aussies fighting for Israel & being “potentially implicated in war crimes”💥 & dealing with them on “return”
Agree, I could never even get the Samsung account to work as I lived all over the globe and it always had geo issues. I don't need to worry about that as I am never buying another Samsung. Just bought the NXTPAPER tablet and its fab too.
The thing that ruins pretty much every Samsung product is their own suite of apps that they insist on jamming on
Was a sincere Samsung fan for over a decade. Latest 2 phones had the camera app stop - but camera would still work on FB, WA etc. The Samsung camera app didnt work but all other apps camera capability did. Almost like they wanted me to upgrade my phone. I did, and bought a Motorola for $600. Fab!
New Galaxy phones just out. $4700! GTFO
This is what I hate the most. They spend decades in opposition, and finally get into power. Instead of going hell for leather on the grand visions they've had eons to work on, they politic the politics out of everything, like they are still in opposition. What a gigantic waste of time and ALP talent
This long-form article paints an extremely damning picture of Biden, but also Blinken, Sullivan, Austin, and Finer who all seem to be trying to place the blame solely on their boss.
How Biden Enabled Israel’s Aggression Toward Gaza—and Iran

Not content with selling off the NHS data platform, and all of our medical history with it, to Palantir, Wes Streeting embarks on his next mission. Selling our defence industry to them. @chadbourn.bsky.social
White man entitlement: assuming you can visit any country w/o documentation. The rest of us check. All airlines email several times about docs. Used to be able to do this online, at airport if you had time at checkin. New SM rules prb changed this. Poor bastard that has to troll thru DH SM feeds.
