I've spent the last decade banging on about the connections between how we travel and healthier, happier lives. An edgelands regular with Sustrans, now Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.

Last week we proudly shared the successes & insights of our groundbreaking, Wheels4Me loan scheme; providing free, inclusive cycle loans in our mission to 'make cycle share, fair'. Though the scheme is currently paused while we look for new funding, we can't wait to bring this important service back

“…suggesting that private schools are responsible for around two thirds (67.8 per cent) of school run congestion. To put it another way, when private schools are in term you can expect to see 3.09x more congestion compared to when only state schools are in term”

One of the last projects I set in motion before I left @wearepossible.bsky.social has finally borne fruit: the School Run Cruncher! TL;DR? YES, it does indeed look like school run traffic to private schools is disproportionately responsible for morning rush hour congestion. You’re welcome!

Floating bus stops are a simple way to make busy streets work better for everyone. Buses do not get held up by cyclists, while people cycling get a continuous, protected route instead of being forced into traffic. Safer cycling, quicker bus journeys and streets that work for people.

Improvements in air pollution are leading to brighter, smarter toddlers. A New York study adds to the growing evidence that air pollution is a fixable problem and that health improves when air pollution is reduced. My latest for @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/environment/...

For decision makers, the lesson is clear: effective leadership requires looking beyond the intensive minority and finding ways to understand the preferences of the wider public. In Budapest, when residents were asked directly, they chose a bridge designed for moving people rather than private cars.🔚

In our first few months of owning an EV I was happy to see an average efficiency of just over 4 miles/kWh. Pretty good! Compare that to our e-bike, which I've just seen in our service report: "An efficiency of 7.52 Wh/km converts to approximately ***82.6 miles per kWh***" 😮🤯

We helped get Gaie released from jail last year. Now we’re helping her sue the Ministry of Justice for discrimination for not finding a tag that fitted.
