Alberta is a shit hole province and I'm not looking forward to returning to it. There, I said it.

" 'til the men they couldn't hang, stepped to the mic and sang, and their voices rang with that Aryan twang,"
Strictly Canadian version. People: You can’t just post one line from a song and expect everyone to know the song. Me: 🎶But we would eat Kraft Dinner. Of course we would, we'd just eat more. And buy really expensive ketchup with it. That's right, all the fanciest Dijon Ketchup. Mmmmmm.🎤🎶
Strictly Canadian Version "What you say about his company Is what you say about society"

Strictly Canadian version. 🎶 I love myself today, not like yesterday, I'm cool, I'm calm, I'm gonna be okay Uh! huh.
My mom is the best! She stocked my freezer with perfectly portioned, homemade freezer meals so when I get home from work at midnight, I have someone to easy to eat. Last night it was veg Shepard pie and peas. She even put a bit of butter on the peas.

This is anti-Canadian and corrosive to education. Alberta just banned (read the massive list) Huxley's Brave New World, Atwood's Handmaid's Tale, Munro's The Lives of Girls and Women from school libraries. www.documentcloud.org/documents/26... epl.bibliocommons.com/v2/list/disp...

These are the books that have now been pulled from the shelves of school libraries in Alberta in order to comply with new rules set out by the current provincial government (The UCP). Intellectual Fre...

I'm tired of this bullshit. Arts & sports are the backbone of Canadian culture, unity, & connection. (Arts more so than sports). They also employ a whole lot of people. To say they're "cute side bars" is not only insulting, but incredibly damaging to the society.
Because pipelines are the reason canada's GDP rose for the second straight month. Our military has been ignored our decades and upgrades are much needed. Arts and sports are cute side bars but they do not improve Canadians standard of living to the same degree.
We tried to warn you all! You didn't listen. Carney is a Red Tory.
Carney: "The flow of asylum seekers entering Canada is down a third, while the level of temporary foreign workers is down by a half and foreign students down by two thirds." Carney fans: "Being anti-immigration just like the Conservatives is good now, actually." www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...
Good thing we're trampling Indigenous title to build massive resource extraction projects. Hey, do man camps count as building housing or does the government still really want to avoid mentioning the words "man camps" because of all the wonderful things that come out of them?
The last the last three shows I've worked on, someone has died (in the show, now real life). Does this mean something?

Psychologists are on Tiktok explaining why Mark Carney supporters can’t be reasoned with, with evidence and they’re helping. They’ve internalized their Liberal allegiance as an identity marker and perceive criticism of Mark Carney as being personally criticized. That’s why they can’t be reached.
Things theatre people say: (an ongoing thread) "Can you take a look around your room and see if the ass's ears are in there?" "Oh, yay! I love it when we get to beat people up!" "Can you pass me that head sitting in the corner?"
Really sharp framing from @amaramarasingam.bsky.social, calling the terrorist attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego the result of (and an addition to) a far-right "curriculum of violence, which turns attacks into instructional material." @us.theconversation.com
The shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego is part of a far-right curriculum of violence
The mass shooting at an Islamic centre in San Diego is the latest in a self-replicating network of far-right violence in which each attack is designed to inspire the next.

Happy birthday, @rachelgilmore.bsky.social
It is my BIRTHDAY today so I am showing you a PICTURE of my newly 32-year-old FACE!! I feel so lucky to have had the last year I had. Lots of chaos and spooky stuff, but also so much love, hope, and pride in both myself and those around me. Thanks to all of you who shared in that with me 💕

Friday was officially a week of me arriving in Stratford to head up both Othello and King James Bible for the Stratford Theatre Festival. It took literal blood, sweat, and tears to get through it. The Festival is a huge machine and learning how to fit into it has been a lot.
@tindizzy.bsky.social had these stickers made. For anyone in Alberta who would like one, let her know! #Ableg

Carney’s fundamental dishonesty regarding his economic agenda is something we‘ve never seen before in Canadian politics. It treats Canadians as chumps — say the right words and the suckers’ll buy anything — while robbing us of the opportunity to have an actual debate about the country’s future.
Carney's angle is the perfect way to usher in Canadian fascism for the same reason Poilievre's wasn't: most Canadians want to feel like they're good people and/or better than Americans without having to actually do anything at all to earn it

So the separatists really don’t give a damn about ethics or the law. They aren’t even bothering to pretend. Cheers to @readtheorchard.org for breaking this and @rachelgilmore.bsky.social for providing more context. substack.com/@rachelgilmo...
