If you want to get up close and personal with Tom Holland’s toes, sit in the front row for Spider-Man.
great reporting from Dan DeLuca, who makes it sound like the album Glen Hansard had been recording in Philadelphia was pretty far along and might be released posthumously.
Irish singer Glen Hansard was working on an album in Philadelphia before his death
"He loved it here" and even wanted to name the album after the city, said producer Charlie Hall of the War on Drugs, who worked with Hansard on the album at a studio in Conshohocken.

So, Backrooms. Finally saw it. Ending went out with a whimper, didn’t it? Great look though.
"A film effectively unstuck in time, in which all events occur simultaneously, gaining shape in a storytelling style akin to recollected memory." for @filmmakermagazine.com, i wrote about Christopher Nolan's editing style and his collaboration with editor Jennifer Lame
Weaving “The Odyssey”
Editor Jennifer Lame’s third collaboration with Christopher Nolan is an epic of emotional immediacy.

Oh, Eva Straat? The hero and main character of the book and hit movie Project Hail Mary?
Not even the most problematic Sandra Hüller character in recent years lmao
We’re bringing back “between Scylla and Charybdis” no more of this boring rock and a hard place stuff
My mother who hates movie theaters ever since they started making you get your own drinks and butter your own popcorn and who takes five days to finish a movie is going to The Odyssey this weekend. Total cultural victory.
I don’t know, man. I think even more likely than Nolan feeling guilt over contributing to the 20-year superhero trend is that he thinks the atom bomb was horrific and he has Cold War Kid trauma.
i'm dead serious when i say these last three movies are a backwards trilogy about the atom bomb
i swear to fucking god i think Nolan's making a temporal pincer maneuver out of movies Tenet is actually his most important film god fucking dammit
People said fascism is just empire coming home and Nolan said, yeah
The film positions the sack of Troy as a fundamental wound in the world echoing down through time and across space -- echoing out in every unfortunate encounter Odysseus and his men encounter, and in the seeping rot at home in his absence. It takes something implicitly in the text and pulls it out
You’re making bad faith arguments in my replies, you’re breaking Zeus’ law.
I love the cyclops in The Odyssey so so much. That’s just a big dumb baby with sheep. Making his cheese bags. Taking naps.
the loudest scream I’ve ever heard was in a Monday evening showing of Eddington, when Ted gets shot
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema? During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
The number of quote tweets crowing and cheering about this is nauseating. Workers lost their jobs! The bosses are still there! Why does that make you happy? Capital counts on you to be petty and small-minded and vindictive towards strangers instead of having a scrap of solidarity for the worker.
I did not know Tom Holland could carry a movie like that. Maybe “carry” is a strong word, but he’s just so solid at some lynchpin moments in the homecoming that need an audience feelings-proxy. His casting is the one I was most unsure of, but he earned it.
people will call him a dumb guy’s idea of a smart guy as an insult but making dumb guys feel smart is a huge part of making “adult” movies with mass appeal
Why did Bluesky switch the position of reposts and quote posts. Why would you do this to my muscle memory.
me eating out of the Trojan horse popcorn bucket for 25 minutes of trailers before The Odyssey: Haha fuck yeah!!! Yes!! me with an empty Trojan horse popcorn bucket on my lap watching the thematic context of the feature film recounted in its final moments: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.

Me when the protagonist is Trapped in a Situation: hahaha! Yes! Me when the Situation involves some kind of complex door mechanism that needs to turned off in a specific way and not Society: what rhe fuck
*being carted bodily across the nation by sophisticated interlocking systems* omg... scary... can I have ginger ale
