I absolutely hated the twist in Sugar. I threw wadded up paper at the TV. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. That said, I'm a sucker for a noir.

This reminds me of how annoying it is (to me, personally) when the film/TV adaptation is too faithful to the text. I tried reading the Slow Horses books after watching the show and couldn't because it appeared to be a scene by scene adaptation. I already knew everything!

"It's not accurate to the text" is a valid criticism, but rarely a good one.

I saw Chris Stapleton at Under the Big Sky last night and it has inspired my forthcoming Mcsweeneys submission: "I'm six-four and wearing a wide-brimmed hat. And I just posted up in front of you at the festival"
The thing is, maybe that's true in certain trades and markets, but you can always get a degree and then learn a trade if that's more profitable. Like, going to college doesn't mean you have to do one thing for the rest of your life.
