European summers aren't what they used to be! Grey curve is the climate of 1950-90. Every coloured line is a summer since 1991. Every one since 2005 sits beyond the 95th percentile of the curve. This isn't a shifting #climate. It's already a new one! 🤯🥵 Plot inspired by Barriopedro et al. 2011

Both run long, which is fine, since alt text has no practical limit and screen reader users benefit from the detail.

Obviously as a fun update to this when I landed back at Gatwick my badminton wheelchair was returned to me with a 5cm tear in the backrest where it had clearly caught on something! Now I get to deal with the “damaged baggage” claim system

Two years ago I wrote about the death of disability activist Engracia Figueroa in 2021 after an airline broke her wheelchair. She died after developing pressure sores from an inadequate loaner chair and her family had no way to hold the airline accountable for her death.

Sewer socialism was always VERY serious. It was pretty much the baseline of seriousness, because it dealt with measurable results: DOES THE FUCKING SEWER WORK? That's as serious as it gets. That's why people hated it: It demonstrated "socialists" actually getting practical things done.
