Live At the Witch Trials Collage made from 1960s Women’s Realm, Parade & Vogue magazines, 1960s wallpaper, Players cigarette cards, Ladybird books, watercolour, acrylic marker, felt tip pen

A colourful collage made from images of a the head and shoulders of a white woman in profile surrounded by drawings of a starry sky and pink clouds, a red and green apple with a slice cut out and a piece of brown and beige striped leopard wallpaper, surrounded by drawings of yellow leopard print and pink organic shapes that look vaguely like internal organs

This was something we said again and again in interviews and talks about the Ladybird books. When you give a child something made carefully and skilfully, they feel it. A treat. “For me?” We all remember that feeling. When you give a child something half-arsed, you tell them they don’t matter.
