Long weekend in the Low Countries, by rail, sea, and jigsaw puzzle

Antwerpen Centraal, Anvers Central, Antwerp Central station is a magnificent neo-Romanesque monument. I knew this, because I have a jigsaw puzzle which features the entrance hall. So of course I had to go and look at it. We were actually planning to go last year, before my mother died. That trip happened last June in the end, but was rather curtailed, and Antwerp was one of the bits we had to cut.

Great to do some canal-based wanderings in Jericho today on our way to the Oxford Canal Festival. Stopped at The Old Bookbinders for an emergency pint on the way back too, ofc.

The swing bridge is surrounded by patchy grassland, and there is another railway bridge, and some houses in the distance. This spectacular two-story mural of author and Merry Prankster Ken Kesey was created in 2015 in his hometown of Springfield, OR. It was designed by Portland artist Craig Ferroggiaro and painted by the Old City Artists based out of Los Angeles.

Pivnice U Čolka, Brno 🇨🇿 4th visit. Tábor street is the under the radar area. Hype from me won't change that. Vorkloster 10° on tap is magic, but it's acquiring more personality over the years too. Messages on the walls, a bit of confidence and comfort in its skin that plain 'naked' new places lack👍🍻

There’s a place in Clare which the English call Lisfarbegnagommaun. In Irish it is called Lios Fear Beag na gCamán, the ring fort of the tiny hurley-wielding men. Some say that mushrooms growing nearby made the little lads visible.

It's Lanmaoa asiatica which "contains none of the psychoactive compounds known to science, including psilocybin" which means they're not illegal yet lol
