New article with @a-seewald.bsky.social: We show that patients' responses to normal diagnostic test results critically depend on the doctor's behaviour. If they are warm and competent, patients can take in such information much better and have less desire to consult other doctors or have more tests.

Annals of Family Medicine@annfammed.bsky.social · 4w ago

How a physician communicates normal tests results may determine how the information lands with a patient. 🔗 - doi.org/10.1370/afm.... Communicating test results that are normal & reveal no abnormalities isn’t always enough to ease a patient’s worries or deter them from seeking a second opinion.

Great work from our affiliated project AF05 led by @tobikube.bsky.social! 🌟 Positive framing (the likelihood of NOT HAVING a disease) reduces perceived risk & emotional concern to normal diagnostic test results. It also reduces intentions for follow-up consultations & further tests.

🔥🔥New paper alert! Super excited to share our paper, out today in @nathumbehav.nature.com, led by the wonderful Dr. Nofar Mizrachi! nature.com/articles/s41... To me, this finding fundamentally changes how we should think about the relationship between cognition and immune regulation:
