NEW: One year in, Trump's troop deployment in D.C. is ongoing, unending, pointless — and very bad. The "America 250" flags are a particularly empty emblem on the uniforms of troops deployed on the streets of the nation's capital. Tonight, at Law Dork:

this is where your money goes when you buy harry potter stuff. rowling isn’t shy about it. amnesty wrote an even-handed report that laid out what anti-rights groups do; rowling uses her billions & clout to suppress it. when you give rowling money; she spends it on stealing people’s human rights.

jk rowling quotes an account called trans widows’ voices

rowling says:
Should any of the women's organisations targeted by @AmnestyUK's recent 'anti-rights' blacklist wish to take legal action, applications can be made to the JK Rowling Women's Fund.

trans widows’ voices says:

Whilst I understand the detriment to Beira's Place is real, and focussing on @jk_rowling get clicks it's a shame that mainstream press coverage of the Amnesty debacle is not also focussing on us smaller groups listed who do not have the same power or influence to defend ourselves

In my opinion, this is litigious thuggery. Amnesty spoke their truth and it hurt the feelings of the anti-trans brigade. TERFs destroy everything they touch. I mean, imagine suing Amnesty, of all organisations?

The NPS will launch 850,000 fireworks in the middle of the night. (Last year, they launched 7,000) That will dump perchlorates and heavy metals into the Potomac River and cause the amount of soot and smoke particles to skyrocket (pardon), at great danger to any creature that breathes.

"The Park Service, in a separate document, similarly said that people should ‘wear an n95 mask when outdoors’ and ‘remain indoors as much as possible during and after the show.’” The guidance is to remain indoors ... during the fireworks. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

While most people understandably focus on D.C. statehood leading to 2 Dem senate seats, for D.C. residents, lack of statehood means the federal government gets involved in local teen curfews, which is a stupid waste of time for everyone. Your state or county doesn't have to worry about this; we do.

In her order, Bowser specifically cites the brawl at the Chipotle in Navy Yard as a reason to reinstate the teen curfew zones. She also says it's preferable to letting the federal government come down on D.C., which it has started doing.

"CEO Steven McKay wrote to employees that “moving forward, DLR Group will not do work—be it upgrades, modernization, or new construction—for ICE detainment or deportation facilities.” DLR Group wouldn’t walk away from its existing contract, or commit to ending its relationship w private prisons"

“I think what ICE is doing is the worst thing America has probably done since the internment camps during World War II.” One of the nation's top "justice facility" architecture firms will no longer work on ICE detention centers or deportation facilities after its employees staged a revolt.

tonight my knight: - had his soul ejected from his body by an abbot with wine for blood - watched his own body get sucked into an enormous dirt hole in order to birth a god - got pulled out at the last minute, his body covered in molten gold down to the waist

*covered in gremlin blood* yeah, you know, it was a tough first half, a lot of distractions but we got some good points on the board. i'm just focused on killing the wasp queen, you know, that's been my focus all season, really just hoping to get the chance to do that tonight

discovered some life-changing ttrpg tech during friday’s session: after taking a mid session break, before getting back into the scene, do a sports style locker room interview with each player (in character). it’s 1) funny 2) focusing 3) immediately and personally characterizing
