Game adjacent folks, start getting to talking to game devs now - the older generations are passing away, and unless you want the future equivalent of a clueless YouTuber making shit up for clicks, record their stories now in media that can be verified and minimizes/eliminates the hallucinations
Chris Kohler@kohler.bsky.social · yesterdayStorage unit guys buy a unit that apparently belonged to a game developer and find design docs, source disks, etc. No idea what the circumstances around this unit were, but just a reminder: if you think stuff "belongs in a museum" definitely try to do that sooner. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSa6...
I find this revolting but not because I think it's actually a threat to indie comics. Disney has been trying to muscle its way into the manga sphere for a while via Tokyopop. Is anyone even aware?
Pilot-Obvious ✈️ webcomics, ocs, and digital art@pilotobvious.bsky.social · last yr.So I uhh, feel like this is kind of the final nail in the coffin for Webtoon Canvas and its indie creators 🥀
Disney has used its resources to gobble up competition instead of investing in skilled storytellers and it shows. They are cheaping out and playing it safe wherever possible. A cheap half-assed reboot will never excite anyone the way your unhinged yaoi melodrama will. Go be weird, hotties.

I find it hard to talk about genAI. There are so many complex problems, it's difficult to know where to begin and how to explain them. So I set myself a challenge: choose 5 key issues with genAI and talk about them clearly in less than 30 minutes. Here's what I made. I hope you find it useful!

I think we should start calling Sam Altman and other tech bros quacks. Quacks are scam artists who think they are smarter than they actually are. Usually quacks are fake doctors/healers, snake oil salesmen, but the name can extend to people trying to sell some unproven future reward in the present.

Drax datacentre could create nearly twice the yearly emissions of all Gatwick flights
Campaign group’s analysis of North Yorkshire plans finds datacentre would have to burn 4.9m tonnes of wood a year Drax’s planned datacentre could produce nearly double the emissions of all flights out of Gatwick airport each year by burning 4.9m tonnes of wood annually, an analysis has shown. Campaigners say this would make it “one of the dirtiest datacentres out there”. Continue reading...

God dammit... Matt Howarth was amazing, an impossibly eclectic writer/artist. I love the Post Bros, Keif Llama, Konny and Czu, as well as his illustrations for the Dune Encyclopedia and Dr. Adder. We have lost a prime weirdo much too soon. The great Malcolm Edwards, too. Come on, universe.

We don’t solve our real cost of living pressures by punching down on refugees and migrants. We need positive leadership that brings us together.
The Coalition has just announced its new immigration policy and it’s going to make us more divided, meaner and poorer as a nation. It’s bottom of the barrel politics cutting our refugee intake by 50% and forcing people seeking asylum to be at risk of starvation.

Legion's PC has kicked the bucket
I've tried everything to get it working including:
Reseat GPU
Reseat RAM
Secondary RAM set
Different display cables
Restarting
Resetting graphics drivers via keybind
The motherboard is so old it doesn't have diagnostic lights so without getting it on a tech bench, it's unrepairable by my own hands. Getting it on a tech's bench would be a minimum of $250 just for the once over to figure out what's wrong, not including parts for repairs (ex. new GPU $600+, new CPU $200+), or labor hours (typically around 40-50 bucks per hour).
At this point it's time to let that PC go off to the great scrap heap in the sky, and bring them up to current tech.
That said:
We're under 200 hours on the subathon, so we're gonna push for this with
5X SUBATHON TIME FOR ANY AND ALL DONOS TO THIS PC. THAT MEANS 10 MINUTES ADDED PER DOLLAR RAISED!
10 bucks? That's 100 minutes! That's over an hour of time added!
