I’m not a big Doctor Who guy, don’t think I ever even saw a Matt Smith episode, but this is funny to me. Oh, that’s what you’d like, huh? Simple as recapturing lightning in a bottle! Of course, why didn’t I think of that? Someone should do Fantastic Four in a Lee/Kirby vein, I bet that’d be good too

Watched 1981’s Hell Night, a surprisingly competent slasher with Linda Blair. Feels like it could use a brisker edit, but lots of fun, clever little bits in it.
At this point, though, if someone contends they've never even heard of The Iron Age of Comics, it may say more about the listener than the podcast. Or, for that matter, what they want to project to the world.

Pretty baffling short film(?) after the credits of Transformers: The Movie.
Jedi in this film do not demonstrate any physical/telekinetic abilities, only mental/psychic ones. Even Vader’s “Force choke” could be rationalized as some kind of hypnotic suggestion: “You believe you can’t breathe,” rather than actually crushing a windpipe.

I like that the lightsaber duel is slow. It’s minimalistic precision fighting, testing each other to find weaknesses, rather than crazy acrobatics.

Update and correction on our Grendel coverage! Thread contains some cool comparisons between the original colors and what’s been redone for the collections. Once again (opinion) trying to apply current color technology and aesthetics to older work creates an odd kind of uncanny valley.

I have to reach out tho bc in listening to the recent Grendel: Legacy episode, you accidentally triggered one of my bigger personal reflexive gripes. Jeromy Cox did the 2000s recolors, not the original issues.
Jerry Robinson (Jan 1, 1922-Dec 11, 2007) co-created the Joker and Robin, taught Steve Ditko how to draw, forced DC to make a deal with Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and looked like Roy Scheider. What a dude.

So many comics companies publishing movie IP-based titles and yet no one will give me the Mo Rutherford: Industrial Saboteur prequel series I so desperately deserve.
