Incredibly happy to share that our work investigating fungal bioaerosol exposure in 118 homes across London has been published in The Lancet Microbe today! A huge thank you to all the co-authors, collaborators, and community scientists who made this work possible. You can find the paper below!

Myceliophthora thermophila is a thermophilic ascomycete originally described in 1963. It produces a wide range of enzymes and can degrade cellulose. Human infections are rare and often seen in severely immunocompromised patients.

Trichophyton equinum is the main cause of dermatophytosis in horses. Human infections are usually associated with direct contact with infected animals. Two recent isolates from our laboratory ⬇️

Phenotypic switching in Nakaseomyces glabratus (ex. Candida glabrata) with two phenotypes simultaneously are present in one clinical sample. They are microscopically different too; with aggregates seen in rough (opaque) variant.

The cactophilic yeasts, Sporopachydermia species, are intrinsically resistance to echinocandins. They are rarely identified in clinical laboratories but can cause human infections including bloodstream infections. Below images are S. lactativora.
