Reminds me of my current read: THE END OF EVERYTHING Go M. John Harrison for The Booker! (I’m compulsively re-reading the book right now. I can see it’s not everyone’s cup of tea as the characters’ perceptions are hard to convey: But that’s what makes a re-read so worthwhile.)

10. Overcoming my brain's tendency to think of leaves & petals as flat things folded into curving shapes really helped my drawing. These things are not flat like paper, they're 3D collections of cells that curl, curve, & squiggle. Every now & again I have to remind myself of that. #ArtNoteToSelf

9. Colour theory. You don't have to study it fervently, or adhere super-strictly to it, in order to have fun with it. I put off learning/playing with colour theory for ages, cos I felt like I had to take it Very Seriously at all times. Which is bullshit, it is allowed to be fun. #ArtNoteToSelf

Thirdlyly, cos life keeps getting in the bloody way, I didn't get to the drawing board much this week. & I'm anxious. I need to practice so I don't fuck the big drawing up 😬 So I picked up an old sketch from when I 1st had this fade/cut-out idea, but never had time to finish. Practicing my deets…

A different drawing of a different species of dry leaf or bark mimicking moth. Well, it's a sketch TBH. Anyway it's a wide, flat, geometer moth called a waved umber. Its wings are patterned with horizontal stripes in different shades of brown. I'm using this to practice details on moth wings.
