Lowering housing prices with the new zoning bylaw is not a flaw, it’s the intended policy outcome.

I’ve hidden some of the other comments but it’s really sad to see the lack of compassion, hope and care for other humans. We live in a time where this is becoming normalized as rhetoric. Let’s not normalize it. For context this is about a voluntary program for city staff to administer naloxone.
Edmonton: Storm cleanup is underway! Many roads and rec centres have reopened, but some closures remain. Extended hours at Eco Stations & Waste Management Centre through July 28 for debris drop-off. Stay safe near the river and report issues to 311. Full updates: edmonton.ca/FacilityNotifications

I submitted a formal letter to the Police Commission asking them to prioritize a new tow lot location in the asks for the 4year budget. This would remove industrial traffic from playground zones. I am disappointed with their answer & will continue to look for strategies to address this.
The City of Edmonton has issued an emergency alert due to heavy rainfall pushing the stormwater system to capacity. Localized flooding and sewer backups are being reported. To prevent further backups, all residents are asked to immediately reduce the strain on our system.
The City of Edmonton is officially the first in Alberta to offer free access to self-service sports equipment lending stations! We are lucky to have two of these brand-new stations right here in Ward Anirniq! Next time you want to get active, you don't even need to bring your own gear.
I am appalled by the hateful graffiti discovered outside a Muslim school and daycare here in Edmonton. This is not just vandalism; it is an act of intimidation targeting children, families, and educators because of their faith. It is Islamophobia, and it is completely unacceptable.
New Blog! Our roads are heavily subsidized, often benefiting out-of-town drivers who don't pay local taxes. To fix this, the City is looking at a major parking overhaul to shift maintenance costs off property taxes and onto user fees. Do these updates strike the right "sweet spot"? Thoughts?

I am concerned that Bill 28 threatens the "public" in our public libraries by imposing provincial overreach that undermines intellectual freedom- the fundamental right of every Edmontonian to seek information and explore ideas without government censorship. www.erinrutherford.ca/more_than_ju...
Today I formally asked the Edmonton Police Commission to prioritize the EPS tow lot in the upcoming budget. The lot is full, 560 vehicle backlog & delaying enforcement. Relocation will improve efficiency and remove heavy tow truck traffic from the Prince Charles neighborhood & playground zones.
I am profoundly disappointed by the recent actions of the EPC & EPS Chief. The approval of this trip profoundly broke public trust & showed a failure of accountability. EPC needs to meet with communities & address the policies that allowed this to happen w/out a full vote.
Safety is more than just a statistic, it’s about how we feel in our own neighbourhoods. In my latest blog post, I’m diving deep into the complexities of community safety in Edmonton.

Today is Pink Shirt Day, a reminder that kindness, respect, and inclusion matter in every space we share, from our schools and workplaces to our neighbourhoods and online conversations. Let’s keep building a city where people feel they belong. #pinkshirtday #yeg
Heads up #yegbike, winter is returning! Enjoy the nice weather this week before temps drop and snow falls again. The best way to do that is to join us and our friends for Winter Bike to Work Day! buff.ly/23M0P7P #yegevents #yeg
In advance of Council's discussion on February 9/10, I want to make sure that I’m accurately reflecting the voices of residents that I represent. Checkout my latest blog summarizing what I’ve heard: www.erinrutherford.ca/what_i_heard...
Special thanks to @pathsforpeople.bsky.social @bikeedmonton.bsky.social @bikeology.bsky.social for helping organize, and councillors @edmontonanne.bsky.social @ashleysalvador.bsky.social @erinrutherford.bsky.social @michaeljanz.bsky.social and Reed Clarke for hosting tables!

What an amazing way to end the week! It was the grand opening of the Coronation Park Sport and Recreation Centre. I encourage everyone to check it out!
RESIDENTIAL SNOW CLEARING WILL NOT PAUSE‼️ Edmontonians, you may have been notified that neighbourhood blading would pause over the weekend, however, I want to assure you that that will NOT happen.
New blog! Reflecting on 2025: a year of challenge, growth, and budget gaps. I'm proud of our work protecting essentials and welcoming more neighbours with new housing. In 2026, my commitment is strong in getting the basics done right. www.erinrutherford.ca/reflecting_o...

Many people still think of poverty as something that happens when people don’t work. But the reality is different: majority of people who live in poverty in Canada are working or live in families who work. @gillianpetit.bsky.social and my 2026 chart to watch www.theglobeandmail.com/business/eco...
On behalf of the City of Edmonton, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the horrific antisemitic attack at Bondi Beach. Families and community members had gathered peacefully to celebrate Hanukkah, a time of light, hope and the right to practice one’s faith.
