Executing a search warrant while early voting is underway in Minnesota, on an old, moldy "crime" is all you need to know about the motivation here. Absolutely no reason not to wait until the second week of November. It's abundantly clear that this is about politics, not a legitimate prosecution.

If you haven’t made sure to turn on two-factor authentication on all accounts, have passwords with family in case you get voice calls asking for money, etc, now would be a good time. AI gains mean the costs of mass targeting individuals with very sophisticated attacks are dropping.

For all this talk of Russian bots being defeated by the Yandex strikes I'm still getting the usual Matryoshka emails with the same fake news posts and purchased bot engagement. Seems more like wishful thinking based on misinterpreted data than reality.

If they disappeared when Yandex went offline, this proves once again that Europe is not the source of the problems." The big problem is that Russia figured out how modern society consumes information a decade ago, but the West hasn't.

This is very interesting. My non-expert take-away: he's saying we should treat AI models as if they were people that we don't trust and who could be compromised. So have them do the work, but surround them with external safeguards that they don't control and can't breach. Just like with people.

NADELLA: ".. We must assume a model is compromised and contain it from the start. Think of it like an emergency brake. An authorized person should always be able to pause or shut down a model mid-task." x.com/satyanadella...

"If you're not the paying customer, you're the product." The very lowest-effort ethical action one can take in response to that fact in the world is: don't provide free content that makes his megaphone more effective and powerful. What are we even doing, people?

It is now one of the biggest facts in the world that the richest man in the world is an overt white supremacist trying to bend politics worldwide in the direction of white supremacy. Twitter isn't the source of his wealth but it is his biggest megaphone.

In people with #LongCovid, the microbiome in the mouth and sputum were found to correlate symptoms and severity publications.ersnet.org/content/erj/...

Sputum and oral microbiota profiles are associated with long COVID severity and phenotype post-hospitalisation: a UK multicentre, prospective cohort study

BackgroundAcute COVID-19 alters the airway microbiota. Whether these changes persist post-COVID-19 and contribute to long COVID is unknown. We aimed to describe the microbiota by long COVID severity and subtype, and identify links with inflammation.MethodsAdults were prospectively recruited to the longitudinal UK Post-hospitalisation COVID-19 study (PHOSP-COVID). Patients were grouped by previously described “severity clusters” (of ongoing health impairments) and symptom subgroups. Oral and sputum microbiota (at 6 months post-discharge) were characterised through 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplicon sequencing, and microbiota diversity was assessed. Co-occurrence network analysis identified keystone taxa. Associations between keystone taxa and plasma inflammatory proteins were assessed through Spearman's rank correlations.Results771 participants had their microbiota assessed. Of participants with oral rinses and “severity cluster” assignment (mean age 57.5 years), 278 out of 722 (38.5%) were women. The “very severe” cluster, in which disease was predominantly pulmonary in nature, was associated with a distinct microbiota profile post-COVID-19. Reduced lung function was associated with a distinct oral microbiota profile. Persistent neurocognitive symptoms were associated with a distinct oral microbiota profile, while gastrointestinal symptoms were associated with a distinct sputum microbiota profile. Microbiota keystone taxa shifted to a higher prevalence of lactic acid bacteria associated with worse health outcomes. Lactic acid bacteria abundance was associated with elevated blood inflammatory proteins.ConclusionDistinct oral and sputum microbiota profiles were associated with pulmonary function and with neurocognitive and gastrointestinal symptoms in long COVID. Shifts in keystone microbiota taxa linked with inflammation, based on worse health outcomes, suggest a potential role change for lactic acid bacteria, which may be associated with the host immune response.

The reason why you see a bunch of accounts all suddenly start posting the same phrase at about the same time is because there's a bunch of GRU interns at setups like this and they get a slack notification and start copy/pasting the marching orders given to them

A case study in how the Trump White House circulates selective documents out of context that then get amplified in the right-wing media ecosphere to fuel conspiracy theories meant to undercut the criminal investigations into Trump. By Charlie Savage www.nytimes.com/2026/10/11/u...

How the White House Manufactured a Narrative About a Trump Aide’s Call Logs

A release of selected records from the classified documents inquiry is a case study in how omitting context can create political ammunition.

Two most important facts: 1) since Trump became President, attacks on Ukraine have grown substantially in volume and scale. 2) Since Trump became President the US has committed zero (yes, zero) new dollars to support Ukraine.

The first Russian diesel cargo heading for the US left St Petersburg on September 22, two weeks *before* Trump announced the deal with Putin, Windward reports. The Greek-flagged tanker Minerva Zen carrying 275,000 barrels of diesel/gasoil is due at the US East Coast around 11–12 October.
