I'll be disappointed if Stevens wins, but mostly what you should take away from tonight is that the coalition really is divided between factions with lots of genuine support, we can't wish the other side away, and we're all going to have to learn to live with each other if we want to win.

regardless of which candidate you support I really hate this bit where pundits pretend being electable in a primary makes you electable in the general election just ask senators Hershel Walker, Blake Masters, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, and Sharron Angle how that worked out for them

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

Weird how Jack’s guy brought us both exploding grocery prices and touched off a war in the Middle East, and yet Jack is still 100% on the Trump train. It’s almost as if he believes in nothing other than proximity to power.

New Atheism quickly went off the rails but there's a genuine grievance there in that a lot of social life in flyover USA centers around religious institutions and for the secular types this can be incredibly alienating even if they're friendly and that's before we get into how a lot of them aren't

This is dredging up some memories about the King Soopers shooting and one particular individual… ah, I see the obvious Google search is turning up phrases like “refused 60 commands to leave the area” and “found not guilty of obstructing police”.

It's not so much that it's not fair for people (especially black people in the South, subject to both non-state paramilitary and state paramilitary violence) to seek security through non-state means. It's more that, absent instances like 1919, it usually breeds more violent competition.

I think in one sense I agree, but I think it's probably worth noting that paramilitary sub-state violence has a tendency to tilt toward escalatory non-discriminatory violence as people seek to eliminate any potential security rivals. So I think it's fair enough to call for cooler heads to prevail.
