Wow, what a fantastic issue of The Twilight Zone from @charlessoule.bsky.social. Two college students looking to cure boredom discover a series of tunnels under their school & if they don't come up with the right password before time runs out it'll be bad for everyone. Great issue!
Watched all five Mad Max movies in the past two weeks: as ever, saw new things despite this being one of my favorite sagas ever. This time, noticed that the shot below happens in every single film. Every single one. Hell yeah. Keep your Wilhelm scream. Give me them George Miller eye pops!

Caught the new Spider-Man last night, and at a big reveal the theater erupted:gasps, “oh shit!” etc. Now, I’ve known this thing for ages because of my job, but also just from being online. It’s out there. And yet! A good reminder that “spoilers” are not universal. Most people come to stuff fresh.

Seeing a Spider-Man/Punisher team-up in the new movie reminds me of my favourite one ever, from the 1991 Punisher gameboy game, because WHAT DOES SPIDER-MAN THINK THE PUNISHER WILL DO WHEN HE GETS THERE?
While I’m recommending books, also really enjoying THRILLING TALES OF MODERN MEN by none other than Danny McBride. Short stories about awesome (yet vulnerable) dudes who express their inner conflicts in unhealthy (but hilarious) ways. In other words, characters McBride might play. It’s great.
BIOLOGICAL WARFARE: A SCENARIO by Annie Jacobsen is even scarier than her last impeccably-researched, barely fictional end of the world book (NUCLEAR WAR: A SCENARIO.) Why: I knew a lot about nukes; the threat was semi-familiar. This is mostly new, and horrifying. Recommended, but brace yourself.
Just broke the final issue of THE LUCKY DEVILS. This series kicks my ass like none other, but completely worth it.
I am in this book! It’s beautiful stuff documenting a particular era in comics (and other things) in such a gorgeous way.

I’m looking forward to the final chapter in the trilogy. The other two were great reads. Also, for anyone who might prefer to be read to, the audiobooks are performed by Dion Graham, one of the best.
The new @colsonwhitehead.com is damn good - COOL MACHINE, completing his Harlem trilogy. Set in 80s NYC, 15 years before I moved there, but enough of that era lingered to make the book a bit of a time machine for me. Highly recommend all three (first two are HARLEM SHUFFLE and CROOK MANIFESTO.)
