I am looking into my crystal ball .. ooooOoo gaze with me … There is probably one person at Meta who gives a shit about this, the rest of the motivation is to have people see others with the glasses and go “maybe they need them”

Also: I mean this in zero way to minimize it, but I get frustrated with the focus on visual disabilities. A lot of tech accessibility was web driven in tech, but motor access is like completely unserved. Meanwhile and all I want glasses to do is give me environment subtitles as I get more deaf

Also worth noting that there are other solutions for this, many of which are private, and Meta’s solution here will pass zero of the HIPAA/GDPR requirements to ever possibly be recommended in any clinical setting. Plus get you beat up

While I acknowledge the utility of the glasses in this one case, the idea of looping in Meta is a nightmare. I absolutely despise when companies accessibility-wash themselves, and it’s galling to have to suck it up and take their money or watch the field die.

whenever some tradesman tries to threaten my family with an extra early appointment/start time they simply say yes and deploy me as their secret weapon because no tradesman has ever been born who can show up earlier than I wake up and I'm not sure whether to be miffed or proud of this
