We got one. Let's talk about this. Google "Edward Hopper the Dory" real quick. Two things will turn up. This, and a picture of a boat. Now check the dictionary to find out what a dory is.

jkr's recent superficially "supportive" statement of trans adults is only just enough to skirt plausible deniability for people who need a reason to keep consuming her shit. it's designed to shoot down arguments of bigotry, nothing more.

This! 🙌🏽 Prints of my hand-drawn digital paintings are available via my INPRNT shop, including #SciArt fish studies, with a mix of calming, quietly surreal, and whimsical flora, fauna, and landscape illustrations: 🖼️: www.inprnt.com/gallery/bydh... #artists #bsnm #FishyFriday #SupportHumanArtists

This. I encourage people to share their online stores in the #SciArt Feed because I've so many artists assume they shouldn't. Barked at a guy back in the early days who said the SciArt Feed should be "pure" and "not commercial". Hellz no. Artists, go get that cheddah.

This goes for indie publishers as well! Buy books Write reviews (or even just star ratings) Tell people about the stories you've loved or are excited for* *online & in person! Request them through your library Ask your local bookshops to order them Word of mouth makes a huge difference for us.

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!

hey there! I'm an illustrator and #comics artist. I've been making art for Dungeons and Daddies (plus some other #DnD podcasts) over the years. I'm currently wrapping art on a YA adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo, drawing layouts on another book and there's a third in the tank. phew! #art

my brain has been kicking my brain's ass this week because I had an idea for an essay after one of the latest AI-in-fiction dramas and then *I missed two other AI-in-fiction dramas* and then an essay came pouring out of me and I think I only got four hours of sleep last night so anyway hold this

We can be blunt here: the industry does not care, has never cared, and *cannot* care about marginalised writers. But it does care about marginalised *fiction*. It cares about marginalised fiction as if Marginalisation is a genre, and it does so because it is. The industry has, on both ends — from the place of well-meaning white cishet able-bodied gatekeepers who really do want to make space for stories from perspectives they cannot imagine, and from the dens of 'anti-woke' pundits railing against an apparent dilution of art or culture — absolutely created a genre that can only be described as Marginalised Fiction. That is, the literary industry cares deeply about fiction that it can view through a margin-frame: fiction identified first and foremost by its ability to perform the assumed bona fides of marginalised authenticity, at least enough for people on the outside, if not based on rigid definitions of radical art that are policed from both within and without the culture itself. Stories that are Black *because* they're about racist microaggressions, violent neighbourhoods, fractured family lives, and identifiable artifacts of culture. Stories that are non-American *because* they telegraph rural tribal community, strong ancient culture, and tension with the outside world. Stories that are queer *because* they play with grotesque bodies, intense sexual exploration, or the bittersweet revelations of sex as desire or violence. Stories that are disabled *because* they paint images of frail bodies or frayed minds severed from reality through drugs, machinery, or just a lack of access to their own effort. Stories that are immigrant *because* they are about being alienated by language, forging new communications with locals, and fearing the hovering sword of state violence.

The industry *loves* that shit.

so thing is, we had a lot of good will and patience from the landlord, and the community was allowed to move into the fence in april. today they were evicted because we haven't been able to raise enough for rent since may now we need money to help people get back to Gorom

A brown femme with assymeteical side-undercut curly hair, a textured tanktop and jewelry stands in the foreground with their eyes closed and hands over their heart, tears glistening down their cheeks. Behind them is a large anatomical heart with the texture of tree bark and big leaves growing out of it. Line art of flowers and leaves frame the figure and the tree-heart. The word "exhale" is written in a little bubble at the bottom of this preview. Drawn by the artist Dhiyanah Hassan.

A brown femme in pastel green tanktop and red batik sarong with black curly hair in a bun is on the floor next to their walking stick. Vegetation with white flowers grow from her back, leaves trailing down her legs from her spine. A fluffy cream-colored cat walks up to her. Her back is facing the viewer. In the background is a golden and pink moon with crescents and stars in the shape of the spine-flowers glittering in the fantastical sky above. Framing the scene is an ornate Arabesque border. Hand-drawn and painted by the artist Dhiyanah Hassan.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
