8.8% success rate for the ERC Starting Grant is not acceptable. It is a lottery at this point with so many great scientists and ideas left to be funded. We keep talking about the competitiveness of Europe and we can't agree to properly fund our best instrument for scientific innovation.

📣 Good news! 📣 Results of the ERC 2026 Starting Grant call are out! Funding worth a total of €705 million will go to 421 early-career researchers across Europe. Discover who, what and where 👉 link.europa.eu/9M3MmN 🧪 #ERCStG #FrontierResearch #HorizonEurope 🇪🇺 @scienceinnovation.ec.europa.eu

'Transcript variance is several-fold larger than protein variance, reflecting transcriptional bursting and mRNA sampling noise. The proteome is thus the stable, low-noise definition of cell state, while the transcriptome marks cellular transitions'

In the same cell, the proteome defines cellular state and the transcriptome marks transitions

Bulk transcriptome and proteome correlate only modestly, but this has not been investigated in the same cell or across cell-state changes. Here we introduce a scalable technology that quantifies thous...

Corn is at 57% good to excellent quality, 14 points lower than last year. Guys, I know Ai is cool and making money is apparently the most important thing above all else, but we can't just eat dollars. Might be a good time to get into revamping our very fragile agriculture...

I went in reading this upset at the take, after reading I’m now enraged at the take. Unions exist to help everyone within the union…from those that absolutely need help to those that don’t. That’s the point, collective action helps everyone.

Great profile of @sciencewhizliz.bsky.social here! Effective science communication requires much more than just sharing information. It means understanding where people are coming from, building trust, and creating relationships that make people willing to listen. www.statnews.com/2026/08/19/s...

She grew up unvaccinated. Now she’s a leading voice for science — and empathy

Immunologist Liz Marnik, who grew up unvaccinated, says shaming people who distrust science will do nothing to improve vaccine acceptance.

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love. Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below! We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

A list of the most effective ways an individual can catalyze change at the scale we need to effectively tackle climate change, based on social science.
