seeing conservative men debate how to dress online is very funny. can't dress up or wear interesting casualwear bc you've made any visible interest in dress to be a sign of homosexuality. but you feel the need to dress better bc you've linked dress to respectability. a prison of your own making.

Every year, I expect ALA to at least mention the critical importance of people in communities getting involved in library governance. Every year, it does not.

Let books be. Today kicks off #BannedBooksWeek, an annual observation started more than 40 years ago in response to a sudden surge in attempts to censor or remove books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Sound familiar? Find ways to get involved and spread the word: https://bit.ly/4yvixbB.

LET BOOKS BE. Various line drawings related to libraries and books, including a hand holding a sign made of an open book that reads "Freed for ALL to Read," a tote bag that reads "Totes Resist" carrying a book, a full book cart with the head and tale of a horse with text that reads "A Wild Ride," and a closeup of two feet standing on a stack of books that say "A Soap Box" on their spines. Text at bottom reads "Protect the freedom to read. Banned Books Week, October 4-10, 2026." American Library Association. ala.org/bbooks

It's OK to reserve your empathy for those targeted by the fascists rather than the fascists. It's hard to believe that this needs to be said but given what I see online from some of the "post" left contingent, I think it does need to be said.

Buying music on Bandcamp = supporting artists. Tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday! From midnight to midnight Pacific Time, we’ll waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists and labels. What will you be adding to your collection? https://bit.ly/4AE4LVl

This is a country of delusional people who believe they may one day be rich. The California Wealth Tax has less than 50% support right now. We have to tell the truth about the propagandized voting public. It's incredible.

Fake. USDA. Seals. Used by an NC meat processing plant on 83.5 TONS of meat. Produced entirely outside the federal inspection system, according to news reports. We are pretty close to The Jungle (second ed.) now, no? www.scrippsnews.com/life/recalls...

New — I had the opportunity to see NAZA, the documentary freaking out the Israeli government because of its horrifying firsthand descriptions of the way the IDF has used AI to target and massacre Palestinian civilians. My thoughts on the film’s damning revelations, and the banality of evil:

I saw the documentary the Israeli government doesn’t want you to see

'NAZA' dispels once and for all the myth that the IDF didn't target civilians in Gaza.

Unfortunately, that research is insufficient, misleading and dead wrong in many cases. Where 3.5% leads those changes they both don’t follow strict principles of non-violence and often come from more densely organized and unionized communities. We cannot expect mass participation to win on its own.

You've heard about Erica Chenoweth's groundbreaking research on nonviolent people's movements—how just 3.5% of the population engaging in sustained protest can topple an authoritarian regime. Join us at 3pm ET to talk with Erica about No Kings 10/17, and what we need to prepare for after that.
