50,000 on the streets of Brussels today. ✊ EPSU joined Belgians and their unions to say: enough! No more making workers pay for austerity. No more cuts to public services, wages, pensions and social protection. Workers are fighting back!

🚒 On 3 November, firefighters from across Europe will take to the streets in Brussels! Last week, Thibaut Rappe of CSC Services Publics (Belgium) told MEPs why: dangerous exposure, occupational illness, too few staff and too little investment. More details on the mobilisation soon! 🔥

Thank you to Darija Softić, Sarajevo Canton Minister of Justice and Administration, for joining our LRG conference and backing dialogue with trade unions! And thank you to our hosts SUFBIH and President Samir Kurtovic, with a powerful reminder of unions’ role in building and protecting peace. ✊

Heat, floods, fires and storms are already changing the world of work. Our final panel in Sarajevo looked at what a just climate response needs: stronger protection from heat, strong public services, and workers at the heart of shaping the transition. 🌡️✊

Labour inspectors from across Europe are meeting in Brussels today to talk about staffing, working conditions and stronger enforcement of workers’ rights. Thanks to MEP @smithanthony.bsky.social for his support. Later, we head to the European Parliament to meet MEP Estelle Ceulemans.

Stronger unions, better conditions - and a real voice for public service workers. ✊ Our third panel in Sarajevo shared experiences of organising and bargaining across Europe: listening and learning from each other, but staying determined to win change for workers.

More than 100,000 public service workers in Ireland are taking action from today! ✊ From health to local government, workers are standing up for fair pay and strong public services. Solidarity with INMO, SIPTU, Fórsa and all those fighting the #PublicServicesEmergency!

We’re on the streets in Paris with French public service workers! ✊🇫🇷 Better pay. Better conditions. More staff. More investment in the public services we all rely on. Solidarity with everyone taking action across France today! ❤️

Day 2 of our Local and Regional Government Pan-European Conference starts with #solidarity. ✊ From Sarajevo, LRG unions from across Europe stand with workers fighting back against the #PublicServicesEmergency services emergency - including workers taking to the streets across France today.

A group of people holding banners reading ‘solidarity’ in several languages and EPSU flags.

Recruitment is only the start. ✊ How do we turn new members into active members? How do we bring more young workers into unions - and support them to become activists and leaders? A discussion on organising and trade union renewal in Sarajevo - one that speaks to the very future of our unions.

Public services should be public - but ownership is only the start. Our first panel in Sarajevo discussed democratic control, workers’ voices and public procurement that delivers decent jobs, fair taxes and the green transition. Public money should work for people! ✊

Who remembers the EPSU Labour Dictionary? 👀 It mostly lived on the platform formerly known as Twitter, so some of you may have missed it. For #SafeAbortionDay, we’re bringing back one entry. Years later, the definition hasn’t changed: abortion must be safe, free and accessible.

Graphic from EPSU’s Labour Dictionary defining abortion as a fundamental right and a procedure that must be safe, free and fully accessible.

Statement of 120 organisations across Europe demanding end of public contracts to #Palantir A company avoiding paying a fair share of taxes And which leaders questioning values of equality and democracy Not to Palantir

EPSU@epsu.bsky.social · 2w ago

We say… ❌ NO to supporting war mongers ❌ NO to draining our public wealth ❌ NO to the tech broligarchy NO TO #PALANTIR! Read the open letter from over 120 organisations from across Europe here: www.epsu.org/article/120-...

Graphic reading: “120+ organisations and unions across Europe call on governments and the European Commission to scrap Palantir contracts.” It adds that Palantir supports warmongers, drains public wealth and deepens dependence on tech billionaires, ending: “We say no to Palantir.”

We’re kicking off our Local and Regional Government Pan-European Conference in Sarajevo! 🗳️ First on the agenda: electing our new LRG President. A warm welcome to Ann Georgsson of Kommunal, our new EPSU LRG President! 👏 Two days of trade union debate, exchange and action start here.

We’re outside the European Commission with trade unions from across Europe to say: enough is enough! Workers’ rights are not red tape. Collective bargaining is not a barrier to competitiveness. EU Inc: protect workers’ rights — or sink it. ✊ @etuc-ces.bsky.social

Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) is one of Europe’s most women-dominated sectors. So the fight for quality ECEC is a fight for gender equality too. Today our ECEC Network and Women’s & Gender Equality Committee came together in Brussels to organise for both. ✊
