since i am working on my first new alt movie posters in *quite* a while, thought i'd share a selection of my favs from over the years ! title and description in alt text all of them are ink on claybord/scratchboard

What you need to understand is nothing we built was “off the shelf.” Store-bought environmental assets for stop-motion features do not exist. We were given concept art and told “make it look like this.” Everything you see here, down to the dirt and moss, was meticulously designed and crafted.

NEW WILDWOOD TRAILER JUST DROPPED!!! I was in the department that built the wild-wood itself. Come see all our hard work! youtu.be/bJQGtSeLPII?...

Kala Paint is out! I'm @olawson.bsky.social , professional artist for 15 years, then game dev, now wrote the painting software I wish I'd been using all this time. GPU-run creamy brushes, no subscription, no gen AI crap, hand-coded with ideas from artists in our Discord, and more added weekly!

Freelance schedule now OPEN! Throwback to May 31st of May Sketch a Day 2022 One of my all time favorites here; incorporating years of different works and styles and mediums. That's it for MaySketchaDay, I'll be digging through other archives now <3

Visual example: Let's say it's VERY important that your readers notice a key getting stolen by a mouse. You do NOT want your readers to miss this as it plays a huge role in the plot later. Will some people notice the mouse in the first example? Sure. But EVERYONE will notice in the second.

Two simple cartoon panels both showing one person worriedly asking "have you seen my key?" and the other responding "no, sorry". In the first panel the characters are framed in the foreground and a mouse carrying a key is a smaller element of the background, off to the side. In the second example, the mouse and key are framed in the foreground from a perspective close to the ground, while the two human characters are in the background.

A piece of advice for people getting into making comics: if you want your readers to notice or pay attention to something, it should be framed in the panel in a way that makes them notice or pay attention to it accordingly. That seems obvious on paper, but apparently it's easy to forget

I got to do a commission for @jazzmedic.bsky.social of their Inquisitor Hans sharing a kiss with Samson. It was such a great time drawing these two! Have a preview (the full is shirtless but fairly tame): #art #dragonage

A zoomed-in crop of a drawing of two men kissing. One is an elf and the other is a human. They are both smiling into the kiss; it is clear they love each other deeply.
