Our latest work on shape-programmable tissues is out in @science.org. By positioning topological defects in cellular nematics, we encode frustrated 2D force fields that relax into predictable 3D shapes. Collaboration with Marino Arroyo’s lab, led by @pauguillamat.bsky.social at @ibecbarcelona.eu.

After a year of posting the pre-print, we now updated the manuscript in bioRxiv with beautiful agent-based simulations from Sotiris Samatas (EMBL) recapitulating symmetry breaking in gastruloids. @barcelonacollaboratorium.com @embl.org
Really happy to share with you my last work from my time in @embl.org with the @viktri08.bsky.social group. We studied the dynamics of cell fate transition in gastruloids and found that cells communicate with each other to control the timing of symmetry breaking. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
New preprint! We show how mesoscopic nonequilibrium fluctuations in active gels emerge from the breaking of detailed balance at the molecular scale. Warning: Long technical paper ahead! Enjoy! @mpipks.bsky.social @ub.edu @ubics.bsky.social @icreacommunity.bsky.social arxiv.org/abs/2601.20483
In previous work with @davidoriola.bsky.social and Jaume Casademunt, we proposed this model and coarse-grained it to show that it gives rise to the constitutive equations of a viscoelastic active gel. link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/...
Fluidization and Active Thinning by Molecular Kinetics in Active Gels
We derive the constitutive equations of an active polar gel from a model for the dynamics of elastic molecules that link polar elements. Molecular binding kinetics induces the fluidization of the mate...
