"There [used to be] regionalism in music. You knew where your band was from the same way you knew your sports team. We knew The Cars were from Boston. We knew R.E.M. was from Athens. We knew The Ramones were from New York. When you went to Minneapolis, Soul Asylum would be on the radio."

[January 13th, 1981] Christopher Cross leads the 23rd Grammy nominations with eight nods. Other top contenders include Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, and Bette Midler.
His trajectory from “that one overconfident American Idol contestant who didn’t make it past the Hollywood round in season 3” to “the bully in dude-bro Spike comedy show Blue Mountain State” to *waves hands* ALL of this will forever be remarkable to me.
A few months ago, I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Lynn Nichols who was behind some of Contemporary Christian Music's most groundbreaking and radical records. We focused on artists and albums from 1986 and I learned so much! READ HERE: open.substack.com/pub/godsmusi...

People are desperate for tangible things that can’t be taken away by greedy billionaires. CDs are cheaper and more portable than vinyl, and a greater portion of the money spent goes to musicians compared to the pennies provided by Spotify and Apple Music.

Idk, maybe having 3 years between seasons of 8-10 shows isn’t how you keep people’s attention. Just throwing that out there, but I’m a dummy. What do I know.
They've trained their audiences not to expect any of their favorite shows to even make it to a season 2, and if they do then that's all they'll get. It's literally your own fault, Netflix.
This was 100% a deliberate act of sabotage and propaganda against the British public. Over a decade of right-wing newspapers, TV pundits, and politicians screaming in piles of their own shit about trans people left entirely unchallenged, this was the inevitable result.
This is actually CRAZY work - we are more anti trans than several countries including the US, which are arguably not even liberal democracies

RIP Bonnie Tyler. And RIP Tandi Iman Dupree. This remains the best stage entrance by a drag queen of all time, even some 25 years later, and the best use of Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” ever. youtu.be/IHQA5vqn6rw?...

That NYT op-ed is how I found out the guy whose hour-long “The Gay Debate” YouTube video was an incredibly instrumental stepping stone to my coming out/deconstruction has ended up in a very bad place theologically and politically. *sigh*
Which is why, whilst I found people like Vines and Justin Lee helpful initially after I came out, by giving me some freedom to interpret scripture that allowed me to accept myself... I've ultimately moved to the "it doesn't matter what scripture says" position. Sometimes it's just wrong.
Matthew Vines' entire "Reformation project" was premised on the idea that queer people's rights and humanity depend on which interpretation of scripture is correct. He happened to find a reading of Paul that he and his dad found satisfactory to affirm same sex relationships.
An odious piece by Matthew Vines. As a gay Christian, he has no fellow-feeling for anyone but the G in the LGBTQ community. It's a gospel of selfishness--I've got mine and the rest of you: I want nothing to do with you. We fought for your rights you sad, little man. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/o...
