So much misinformation being spread on tiktok about the new EHRC Code by seemingly well meaning cis people who simply have not read a single thing trans people have been saying about this code or bathroom bills in general, and it's all being amplified by terrified and misinformed trans people.

Trans men in women's toilets is not a gotcha, the EHRC code explicitly calls out that trans men (and women) could be excluded from all single sex spaces, in order to protect the sensibilities of other service users, but it all rides on services actually policing those spaces in the first place.
Seeing a lot of “now men can say they are trans men to get into the women’s” again today, stop it.

The EHRC guidance slipped its way into law by default overnight. Do not self-police and do not let toilet weirdos and changing room weirdos dictate how you go about your life.
Do try to remember that the EHRC guidance only affects service providers and not employment, so if you work somewhere where there are toilets or changing rooms for employees that aren’t open to the public then your employers are wrong if they try to stop you from using facilities for your gender
We have also written a detailed legal explainer about why we think the code of practice gets the law wrong.

It remains illegal to discriminate against trans people or anyone you think might be trans. Inter alia, we retain the human rights to privacy.

As a human rights law academic, I'm ashamed of this country today and I'm ashamed of our supposed equality commission.
Our code of practice for services, public functions and associations comes into force today. It provides practical guidance on how the Equality Act 2010 applies to services, public functions and associations. Find out more: https://ow.ly/alIf50Zwrkx
Can't wait until the inevitable moment when someone tries to confront me in a public loo, and I can just say "well, I've already pissed, and no one died, so mind your own fucking business."
The EHRC's new Code of Practice comes into effect today. Here's what you need to know. transactual.org.uk/know-your-ri...
If a member of staff approaches you “I am not discussing private information in a bathroom. If there is an issue, please speak to me discreetly outside.” “I need safe toilet access. What private option can you provide?” “I am not answering questions about my body, medical history or legal status”

EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect today so remember to be an absolute pain in the arse to any service provider who is trying to actively enforce it.
It is remarkable how frequently I get emails from students at my university, from a programme I do not actively anymore, who I have not supervised for any projects, asking for reference letters. Like, I don't know you; I cannot speak to your abilities.
"You know much has been said about EDM, Terrible things." "EDM? Electronic Dance Music?" "Yes, we're talking about the same EDM" "EDM? With the raves?" "Yes the raves, that I've never been too. And I hate to tell you, EDM is neoliberal." "No. If EDM were neoliberal, I would know about it."
BBC breakfast talking about this and it's all fun and games and not SpaceX being wildly irresponsible with their equipment.

Damn the DSA and adjacent policies sure are sweeping a lot of the Dem primaries and now the excuse can't be "oh it's just New York/Philly/Denver it would never work in Hard Working America." I have been waiting decades for the corporate Dem to die and it's so nice to finally smell blood.
I don't want to preemptively squirt but it's looking good for me tonight.
Looking back at Avengers (2012) the "Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist" bit was just a terrible line read from RDJ and I swear I must have a Mandela effect going on because I'm sure there was a better version of it in the trailers of something.

Your reminder Rod Liddle not only said he couldn't have become a teacher because he "could not remotely conceive of not trying to shag the kids" in The Spectator, but he also wrote laws banning child pornography are "absurd" in The Guardian. Abhorrent.
A "high discipline" environment is not compatible with the calm, dignified environment that benefits people with ADHD. What it does is put them at a constant state of alertness to ensure that they aren't doing anything wrong that would lead to them being punished.
I really don’t know what to say about this to be honest, but there it is
Like okay, sure, let's say I grant this. I have ADHD & my anxiety is definitely bad enough to count as a chronic condition. Dignified, calm, safe, that sounds like exactly what I want. But that's not compatible with "high discipline", which literally can't exist without a punishment structure...

Do much discourse around Brand New Day has me thinking that a lot of people really didn't understand the effects of Strange's spell at the end of No Way Home. The only thing it did was alter people's memories, it didn't actually change any of the events that happened.
