Sharing information about sustainable and ecological farming to help mitigate the effects of climate change and to work towards a sustainable food supply chain for earth.

It doesn't matter that Ireland only has miniscule fragments of native forests left, or that these are mostly in a dying state. When it comes to fixing that, everything takes forever and is piecemeal, if it even happens at all. It's always plenty of talk and written reports, but little or no action.

It is 7 years since Coillte committed to removing the plantation surrounding the Derryclare forest in Galway but still not a single conifer has been removed. We now have national restoration targets for 2030 but we'll need get a lot quicker if these are to be met www.irishtimes.com/environment/...

The argument to give nature legal rights seems compelling, not because a declaration alone can solve climate and biodiversity crises, but because it can shift whose interests the law protects. The real test will be enforcement and turning recognition into action. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Nature has rights — it is time the world recognized them

Existing legal frameworks have not halted planetary crises. Recognizing the rights of nature could offer a different path.

🚨NASA CERES satellite data shows another 4-year average record for global Absorbed Solar Radiation. Earth's Energy Imbalance has more than doubled over the past 20 years. We've been trying to warn about this and the impacts for years, but few seem to care.

🚨The most important graph in the world has another year of data, and it doesn't look good!🚨 NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space. The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled!

As food shortages worsen, communities in northern Uganda are relying on wild edible plants to survive. A study highlights the vital role of local flora during crises, raising questions about whether areas with lower botanical diversity will face greater vulnerability. By Fellow Kingsley Charles.

Uganda pastoralists turn to wild plants as food shortages bite, study finds

For decades, the global outlook for food and agriculture has brought heightened concerns  as climate patterns create a mix of droughts and floods across the world. Consequently, fears of diminishing…

Germany wasted so much money on fossil fuels the last 5 years when they could have invested in cheap solar and batteries. Now Germany tells the rest of Europe that because Germany is so bad with its own finances and burnt it all on overpriced fossil fuels, now all of Europe needs to spend less.

Spain supplying a quarter of Europe’s fresh produce while running out of water exposes the reckless vulnerability of our food system. Draining aquifers to fuel intensive agriculture in a climate crisis is unsustainable. Why sacrifice ecosystems for cheap produce? (1/2) 🤔 #ClimateCrisis

Spain grows fruit and vegetables for Europe — but it's running out of water

Spain's southern coast produces up to 25% of Europe's fruit and vegetables. But amid intensive farming, climate change and illegal wells, the water it takes to grow them is drying up.

When farms stop yielding, hunger does not knock — it breaks the door. Across the Horn of Africa, soils that once fed nations are turning barren. This is not “bad weather.” This is climate change rewriting our food systems in real time.

U Chicago climate researchers project 450,000 heat deaths through Feb due to fossil-fuel-exacerbated El Niño. (That's not including 2nd or 3rd order effects like drought and famine. The *less powerful* 1877 El Niño killed 50m from hunger.) www.theguardian.com/environment/...

It’s time American farmers switched to electric farm equipment. It’s cheaper and better for the health of the farmers and the community as a whole. And it helps with future harvest protection. Diesel farm equipment destroys future harvests.

Farmers who have worked hard and played by the rules are now on the verge of financial collapse because the war in Iran is squeezing them on all sides. It doesn’t have to be like this — the president is choosing for it to be like this.

With Andy Burnham's speech, the left has unequivocally won the argument - on the rhetoric, at least. The substance is rather more complicated. But this government is more susceptible to popular pressure to go in a more progressive direction than Starmerism. Should embolden us!
