do this even if you're the sole author. I can never understand my own thumbnails
Protip: something I learned from a request in a Larry Hama script many years ago. If you're drawing a story with a lot of characters in it, do everyone a favor and I.D. the characters in the margins, so that your collaborators can easily identify a small or cropped figure, or the back of a head.
Hotblood! Vol. 2 The Valley of Kings by #TorilOrlesky is Historical Fiction, a Western, a complicated Queer Romantasy, a Mystery & a love letter to the dangerous beauty of California. Thanks #MadCaveStudios & #NetGalley for the e-ARC. #BookSky madcavestudios.com/product/hotb...

the older I get, the worse I am at multitasking. I want to rent a cabin in the mountains and write for a year

81 years ago today, on August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped upon the city of Nagasaki, Japan, by the United States. This was 3 days after the first atomic attack on Hiroshima.
i've had jobs where i've run from the cops (cafe ownership dispute) and jobs where i've almost died (near-miss autorotation with a sketchy engine) but the worst was a vertical scroll startup where the staff were majority hays code liberals bent on exploiting young artists for shareholder value
"sex isn't plot relevant" is literally just "sex should be for procreation only" with a different sauce
"I'm not a mechanic, I can't diagnose you like a car" ???
A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

I recently turned down on talk on "How I always stay employed", because I said that it's a question I'm not comfortable with - largely because anything after 2022 means the answer is "LUCK". We are not solely in a skill based Battle Royale right now.
I have long wanted to write for the excellent Bay Area publishing collective COYOTE...and they let me write something that honestly no other publication would. All hail independent media!!
Early on @coyotemedia.org made a list of dream bylines we'd LOVE to have on the site and @annaleen.bsky.social was one of the first on it for me. So stoked to see this piece about ~~speculative transit~~ and big dreams for the Bay Area. www.coyotemedia.org/funding-bay-...
the only difference between people who make art and people who don't is that people who make art make time.
"i don't have any time" it's okay me neither. it's fine if it takes you months or years. it's fine if you never finish. just give it a shot, you might like it. "it's gonna be bad" that's okay. humans need to make bad art to live.
I'm sorry for talking so much about this indie comics shit i just get really heated about comics okay. make your comic!! don't wait for someone to tell you it's worth making!
lrt it does get my goat when i go to a show like TCAF and everything looks very good, but very samey
instead of embracing our freedom from industry norms and restrictions, NA indie comics has chosen to create an Industry 2 where we enforce New Norms And Restrictions. and i strongly believe that this is bad for art. the beauty of indie comics lies in our freedom, not a prestigious fair or publisher.
i made a guide on how to write, draw, and print a doujinshi/fanzine/whatever you want to call it. this is a crash course on literally everything i know about making doujinshi. it's over 40 pages long. i hope you like it. docs.google.com/document/d/1...
