If you know an Irishman who visited France for two weeks in July and who saved my life at the Piscine du Grand Parc, get us in touch. He'll remember as much as I do. They visited all the swimming pools in Bordeaux. Please boost and see if anyone is on Bluesky who can help. #Irish #Ireland

The chair of Ards Comhaltas admitted afterwards he had been sceptical it could work here at all, this being a complex city. He built it anyway. A million people answered the question for him. Sceptical and building beats certain and waiting.
A million people through Belfast for a festival nobody asked permission to hold. Ards Comhaltas taught children to hold a bow for 50 years, then opened a door and the city came. The half that builds and the half that waits. 💭✍🏼🎶🕊️ #Fleadh26 #Spéirghorm #Belfast forlouth.medium.com/catching-up-...

I must admit I wasn't too aware of Jean Plaidy until I started working with vintage books many years ago, but if ever an author was due a renaissance, it's her. Historical romance as a description is probably too vague. History sagas is fairer.
I once had a boyfriend break up with me because I "was boorish". I was devastated at the time but the older I get the more I love this. BOORISH

Three combines going at once as the harvest continues with just a few drops of rain near Tullow.
Would definitely be a regular at a pub with this sign.
This carved stone plaque was found in St Francis' Row in Cashel, and it is believed to be the sign for a tavern that was known as The Cat & Bagpipes, that once stood on the main street. It may date to as early as the 16-17th century, and offers a glimpse of Cashel's social life from centuries ago

Two forthcoming books from two talented Irish comedians and writers, Tipping Away from @colmoregan.bsky.social and Local Gossip (short stories) from Bernard Casey, both from Gill Books.
Just compare the images of the fellas and their book covers and the one on SF.
With most of the forthcoming titles for the remainder of the year now announced, there are a number of big titles due on Irish politics and recent political history - always a popular genre with meaty political biographies and autobiographies - here's a listing of a few which stand out #spéirgorm
Slightly battered box but three excellent German language editions of Tolkien - Der Herr der Ringe
I did not know about Gaelic football rules or the Mayo curse until a few weeks ago. Heck, as a German who never lived in Ireland, I couldn't have pointed out county Mayo on a map until a few months ago. But this is single-handedly one of the best moments of sport I've witnessed in my time! #Mayo4Sam
My personal favourite moment from The Odyssey. Finally got to see it yesterday. I'd nearly go again to take more of it in. The Polyphemus cave scenes managed to capture the innate oddness of some Greek myth better than anyone else has managed. #TheOdyssey
If any book can be regarded as useful in modern social and political discourse, it's this one from @mehdirhasan.bsky.social - Win Every Argument ( the subtitle is (crucially) 'the art of debating, persuading and public speaking') Not just argument, but communication. thebookshop.ie/mehdi-hassan...
