Most of the art I love is nothing like mine. Work similar to mine I can appreciate, but there’s not much mystery to it. If anything, I tend to be hypercritical, since I understand the process so intimately. What blows me away is when people see the world in a way that I would never be able to.

I love when I adore an artists work and it's nothing like mine at all. It's so fun how many ways there are to DO THIS

Night eyes 😎 Finally got proper pictures of this amazing phenomenon! Mantises change their eye color (and light sensitivity) at night by transporting pigments from the surface of each compound eye unit toward the deeper eye region. Same female Tenodera sinensis, two different times. #bugsky

The pseudopupil is clearly visible on her left eye, facing the camera.

There’s painting like ‘oh god this is a disaster’ and painting like ‘ok I’m killing this’ and I haven’t found a way to not have to do both kinds to make a painting.

Interesting. Artstation’s new owners seem to be making an effort to undo at least some of the damage that Epic did to the platform. I’m not rushing back yet (it was never particularly useful for the markets I primarily work in anyway), but I’ll keep an eye on things.

Back in the Sijun/CA/EP forum days of the early 2000s, it was a big joke when people would post that they really wanted to become artists, but they just didn't like drawing. Oh how we laughed and laughed. Guess the joke was on us.

I thought the article image was some stock photo capitalizing on the "pervert glasses" narrative, but no, the credit is from Meta. Meta released this image of a man looking like a combination of Barry and Dexter secretly plotting to murder women

JFC ban these sex crime glasses in healthcare. If anyone you know buys them it is your duty to mock them until they stop wearing them.

my fav @michaelhobbes.bsky.social hot take that i have now stolen as my own: we need broken windows policing for white collar crime.

A central part of why it seems like powerful, rich people live in a consequence-free world is that the social incentives to hold them to account have withered. www.ctinsider.com/columnist/ar... 𝟏𝟐-𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬
