I am an environmental and social justice activist who spent 25 years in Green politics in Australia. I work with many eNGOs, am Global Greens Ambassador, a devoted grandmother and a keen gardener.

The most depressing thing about swift parrots is that this same story has been told repeatedly for the entire 16 years I’ve been working on them - same terrible conservation outcomes again and again with no changes to Tasmanian forest management www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07...

What happened when a rare bird found a place to nest near a logging coupe

It was late 2021 when one of Australia's rarest birds started to arrive in the native forests of Lonnavale. Ecologists had expected it but for a reacting forestry sector, it was "not sustainable".

So, I found out on Friday that my gig at the Guardian is coming to an end in late August. Needless to say I'm rather bummed by this development AND in need of a new job so if anyone's looking for a cartoonist HMU.

Case in point: the new Trumpian lead for the next National Climate Assessment is literally a #climate denier, disputing the most basic science fact about #climatechange. This is Stalin-like science.

There have been 5 US National Climate Assessments, each advancing the science of #climate threats, prepared by the nation's top scientists. The 6th will be prepared by climate deniers & MAGA political hacks & will be a scientific embarrassment, forever to be ignored. www.politico.com/news/2026/07...

Niki Savva takes aim at Abbott’s “very strange” & “very extreme” speech at a RW conference in London saying it could have just as well been delivered by Hanson/ON. “Maybe he should be President of One Nation?” 💥 Speers, agitated, tries to cut in. Savva ignores, powers on.💥

Can’t believe we’re going to get a fossil fuel supercharged Hanson under the guise of fighting for the everyday person… because the the people that elected to fight for everyday people forgot and started fighting for fossil fuels.

If you’re ‘protest voting’ for One Nation you’re also saying you aren’t at all ashamed to support a party of vile racists and science-denialists. By association, that’s what YOU stand for. If you’re absolutely cool with this, please fuck off.

At some point in the next weeks / months, Pauline Hanson is going to try and hamfistedly wide the wave of opposition to data centres in Australia, so in advance of that: fuck all racists, and racist political parties, and everyone who accepts allyship with vicious, violent white supremacist ghouls 👍

For nearly 100 years, four large dams on the Klamath River blocked salmon and steelhead trout from reaching more than 400 miles of habitat. 🐟 This World Fish Migration Day, enjoy this footage of their return to historic spawning habitat post-dam removal! 🎥 Swiftwater Films

But the treasurer said what he was doing was in line with the “good book”. Removing 1700 hundred jobs from hospitals, schools, police, environment while spending 1-2 billion on a gambling syndicate’s infrastructure disguised as sport is apparently a Christian act 🤷🏻‍♀️

Time’s up. The Albanese Government must do better, to stop Australians being the world’s biggest losers, with gambling losses of $87 million every day. We must ban gambling ads and establish a national regulator.

Hi @scienceau.bsky.social, perhaps the Science Meets Parliament gala dinner Pauline Hanson's so fond of can spotlight fossil fascism, to enable scientists to educate themselves critically about One Nation, racism & fossil fascism❓(backgrd next post) Not just provide photo ops for One Nation reps

Dr Jeremy Walker@jeremywalker.bsky.social · 3mo ago

3/- It's absolutely urgent that we discuss and name the current Hanson-LNP moment as fossil fascism, not resort to mind numbing lazy cliches like 'populism' or compartmentalise the racist content away as in any way seperate from the 'dump net zero'/fossil fuel funding/Atlas Network disinfo.
