Becky was a gentle person with a beautiful spirit. I’m grateful I got to spend time with her, and that she chose to be a part of the Pathways project. Thank you @alexzee.bsky.social for this story.
As Portland's homeless population grows, people – and politicians – are drawn to blanket assumptions about the lives of people living unsheltered, often leaving individual stories lost in the shuffle. Here's one of those stories:
Oh hey! That’s a good quote that I don’t remember saying (interview was awhile ago). Thanks for sharing @emily-vwg.bsky.social!

Mayor of San Diego bringing it at @naehomelessness.bsky.social leadership conference - our biggest issue to end and prevent homelessness is not enough housing!
Here’s something! I was POLLED about this case. They changed some details but def had to be this case. I took it in the last week! The poll was focused on the hospitals responsibility. I’ve Never seen a poll about a legal case!
I first worked on this story while at @opb.org. We were not the only publication to pay attention though. Under a steady local media spotlight, public officials did finally acknowledge internal problems with how the case was handled and bring new criminal charges. www.oregonlive.com/crime/2026/0...
Leading up to that.. Eric Lee Atty Kids screaming "Let us out! Let us out!"
they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.
Be still my heart @councilordunphy.bsky.social. The city that plans not the city that works. My research in a nutshell. ❤️
Almost exactly 18k saved in this household thanks to PfA. ❤️
Each Preschool for All seat provides economic relief to families, saving up to $18,600 a year per child. When all 7,400+ recently allocated seats fill, families enrolled could collectively save $138 million annually. That’s money back into families pockets they can reinvest into our local economy.
📣She’s at it again! The governor is selling out toddlers for tax cuts for top earners. Join our rally Monday from 11:30-1 at the Convention Center, 777 NE MLK, to demand Preschool for All be rolled out as approved 2:1 by voters! RSVP and bring friends! actionnetwork.org/events/prote...

Want to be crystal clear that when I say "overall filers" I mean the number of households (7%) who pay this tax has grown even if the tippy top of this top 7% did not. The bottom line is that overall we have seen growth in the no. of households earning over 200k/yr! www.portland.gov/council/dist...

Waking up to some careless parachute journalism from the NYT. Really frustrating that @kellen.bsky.social chooses to write that "some top filers" have left Portland due to the Preschool for All tax but neglects to mention that the number of overall filers went up by many thousands in that period.+
We are dealing with extreme heat in Multnomah County. 🥵 The following libraries will have extended hours today:
Grateful and inspired by the @friendsofpfa.bsky.social and all of the partner organizations that organized a massive turnout to protect one of most common sense programs I have seen. Truly inspiring work.
Over the past month, our coalition and our community came together to say, NO CUTS, NO COMPROMISES. Thank you for every email, phonecall, public comment, and PB&J assembly line for toddlers at evening meetings. Together, we won Preschool for All- AGAIN! The tax cuts are paused!
It’s time! Join @friendsofpfa.bsky.social for a rally TODAY. Then MC listening session about indexing. What’s that? Who cares. It’s not what we voted for, uses false narratives, & won’t improve programs or access. I’m a PfA mom and a certified smart person. I know indexing is the wrong question.
Write your thoughts down!! We can do this y’all!
Thanks to everyone who has signed up to provide testimony at our Preschool for All listening session this Wednesday evening! Speaking slots for the 2 hour event are now full, but you can still submit written testimony using this link: multco.us/info/public-... We look forward to hearing from you.
Great thread and supporting responses sharing great information about preschool for all. I’m testifying 8/28. Join me! If you’re nervous lmk and I will cheer you on! I’m bringing my kiddo. Preschool is closed that week. Bring yours!
PDX read this explainer about the perils of Julia Brim-Edwards's janky indexing scheme for Preschool for All from @friendsofpfa.bsky.social. Then smash the button to email the Country and the link to sign up to testify at one of the august dates. mailchi.mp/e643b845b722...
lol I did not edit my screen shot. And look - it turned out to be a great opportunity to learn more about Friends of PfA!
🥰... our emails do contain a lot of good info! Get on the list at friendsofPFA.org to get yours!✨
Thank you Councillor for your unwavering support!
It was great to be in a room full of families and local leaders to say: we support Preschool For All! East Portland has the most families out of all the districts, so it’s very important to me that we keep growing PFA. @friendsofpfa.bsky.social #FriendsofPFA
Some ppl are shouting about how the preschool for all tax is driving ppl out of Multco. Here’s some information data about what ppl pay. The cost of moving would be more than this tax. If you + partner’s taxable income is 270k, you owe $1k. No one is moving for $1000.
Yall! We need help. Pls reach out! Even if, and maybe especially if you don’t have a kid a PfA. Don’t have kids and understand how this matters? Pay the tax and are totally fine with it? Or pay the tax and know that it on its own it’s not going to make you run away from the county? Please share!
you could even do more than this. Call them. Chalk the sidewalk outside the county building. Sky writing
Here’s something that’s really great about preschool for all that I don’t see discussed. My son goes to a preschool at a local community center. Multiple community centers have them. The city now funds these programs through PFA. 1/?
