Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.

‘The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act’ opened to $19.5 MILLION domestically, landing a spot in the top 5 at the U.S. box office.

And that's just the US box office. The Last Act is a global phenomenon. Theaters here in The Netherlands were booked out almost instantly when tickets went on sale, and it sure sounds like the same thing happened all around the world. Indie is ascendant. Period.

TikTok is already being turned into a propaganda machine. A lack of ability to see criticism can persuade users to think that means there’s (unanimous) support. That, AND it’s collecting your data for whatever purpose it wants, & I bet at least a few of them you’d be horrified by. Just delete it.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties. The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized. Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Watch out for the ONE question where they try to trick you by putting "I want AI" as the bottom option where EVERY other question has "I don't want AI" at the bottom!

You're not doing it wrong, you're just at the part where most people quit.

I'm old. If you're not, listen to this. Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder. Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever. It's literally never been more important.
