The last Willow Tit nest of the season now fledged, successfully protected from Great Spotted Woodpecker predation. No GSW predation in protected nests this year, in stark contrast to 100% predation rate by GSW in unprotected nests. Very promising results.

The #peat at this site was historically cut for fuel, leaving bare eroding 'peat pans'. We used a digger for reprofiling then got to work by hand, with lots of help from volunteers 🙏 It will be several years before we really start to see the impact of the work, but initial signs are promising 😊

This is such well-deserved recognition for Mary's tireless work, bringing people together to help curlews and to connect with the natural world.
